NeoZeedeater: I agree with you that Golden Axe for genesis was technically and graphically a solid port, but there were a lot of little details that were left out for no apparent reason.
I can understand why some of the animation had to be cut, but I think Sega made some pretty bad choices in this department, and there was no need to dink around with the gameplay.
The forced scrolling at certain points in the levels was a lot worse on genesis, often resulting in missed potions and dragons.
Also, there was a spot at the beginning of level three in the arcade version where you could get the fire-ball dragon, but that whole section was cut in the port. This may sound like nitpicking, but it really is a problem, since this was the only place where you could get that dragon and actually keep him for any length of time.
There are a lot of other minor omissions in the port, and most of them are easily overlooked, but why were there no black skeletons in the genesis version? They were totally badass! And what about Death Adder's bloody death scene?
Anyway, I really did like Golden Axe for genesis, mostly because of all the extras that were thrown in, but the arcade version just felt more polished and complete.
