Thread: Ratchet & Clank

  1. Woah...
    Not bad for a first post.
    I've gotta try this game... My friend monopolized the demo disc at Otakon, so I couldn't get my hands on it. I had to settle for kicking ass in Puyo Puyoon.

  2. Rise from the graaaave...

    So after playing the R&C demo and being totally unimpressed, I picked up the full game today new for 15USD after hearing so many people, especially peoples on this board tell me the full version is so much better than the demo...

    And I'm happy to say that I'm pleasantly surprised with how much I've enjoyed the first two hours. While it's nowhere near the same league as Maximo, Mario Sunshine, or Sly Cooper, it's still a good game in it's own right, and if the game stays this fun all the way through, I look foward to picking up the sequel.

    The local designs are very cool, I love how far you can see off into the distance, the voice acting is great, and the character designs are all very good (especially Clank), but Ratchet...ugh Ratchet is just hideous. Those eyes... ick.

    So, uh, yea. fifteen bucks is a good deal for sure.

  3. just played some more of this myself tonight. nothing spectacular by any means but solid nonetheless. i'm mostly trying to get through it so i can play the (supposedly) vastly improved sequel. i do like clank though. yes, i do. how, when turning, his body swivels before his head? yes, that's cute stuff.

  4. I didn't expect much from R&C at first either but once you get later in the game and get some of the cooler gadgets with some nice level design it gets exponentially better.

  5. All the levels, while designed well, are really dark.

    I like a bit more color personally.

  6. I abhorred the E3 demo... but when I finally got around to playing the full game I really enjoyed it. The sequel is much improved though.

    And it's definitely no Sly Cooper.

  7. Oh, I think it is. I'm on my second time through the game, and I'm well into its sequal. One of my favorite platformers ever. The controls are spot on, the humor plentiful, and the challenge ever-present (except with them gold weapons. Holy shit, the Tesla Claw...).

  8. I'm about five hours in I believe and while I'm enjoying it, it's still nowhere near the leagure as Sly Cooper.

    I'm sure the sequel can get closer, but I doubt it will be able to beat out the ole 'coops.

    Trust me on this... do not go for 100% in R&C... it's a major disappointment. Especially after the cool stuff you got for 100% on Sly Cooper.

    R&C Going Commando is worth 100% though, as the bonus is quite cool.
