With any luck that game last night ended any chance Jokerre had at winning the Conn Smythe.

And he's 5-0 all-time in the game after allowing 5 goals in the playoffs, including the most recent time where he pitched a shutout.Originally posted by Dragonmaster Dyne

stats are meaningless in real life. you should know better. if you wanna play that game then hasnt NJ blown 3-2 leads several times already? oh yeah.....the last one i remember is to colorado when borque hoisted the cup.

Stats are meaningless? Fine. How about accomplishments? How do 2 Stanley Cup Rings sound? How about the first gold medal for Canada in 50 years? How about the Calder in 93-94? How about a sure-fire Vézina this year? How about being the favourite for the Conn Smythe if the Devils win Game 7 on Monday? How about 4 seasons of 40+ wins (wins, of course, are the stat that matters)? How about 7 years of 35+ wins?
Brodeur was pulled because the team was playing like shit in front of him and there was no sense leaving him out there.
"We don't want, at this time, for me to get hurt in a stupid play or something like that," Brodeur said. "It was a great opportunity (to take me out). The game was out of reach, and it was an opportunity for Schwab to get a little time in the Stanley Cup Finals. I'd like to play the whole game, but in a situation like that, it's not that big a deal.
"I'm strong enough to handle this. It's not a big deal for me, and I'll try to bounce back in Game 7."
accomplishments dont win games either. your argument is meaningless.
and i like how all the sudden brodeur leats in 5 goals and the TEAM plays like shit but whwn Giguere does it's his fault. whatever.
Explain exactly how you win a Stanley Cup without winning games then.Originally posted by Dragonmaster Dyne

That was actually the only 3-2 lead they have evr blown to my knowledge, and let's not pretent the Ducks are the 2001 Avs.Originally posted by Dragonmaster Dyne

Giguere doesn't deserve to be given excuses. There are haves and have nots in the goalie ranks, and he is most assuredly a have not.Originally posted by Dragonmaster Dyne

Bleh. I hate to say it but they also blew a 3-2 lead to the Penguins in 99 and to the Rangers in 94 (aka: the worse moment in NHL history).Originally posted by Yoshi

It's a givin that the Devils have trouble closing out series sometimes. But they have closed out more than their fair share. Just look at the Senators series last round. They rebounded to win Game 7 and they can do it again. They have also staged their share of memorable comebacks. Just ask Philadelphia and Toronto!
But what it all comes down to this year is one game and none of those things have anything to do with what happens on Monday. Anything can happen. I think the Devils have a great chance to win. They lost three games in this series when they were totally lousy. Once they were blown out but they easily could have won the other two. If they play as well as they can, they should win. Plus, the team has shown a lot of character and heart and I don't think they'll just give it up like the 2001 team did. I expect a great performance in Game 7.![]()
Damn. I knew those memories were repressed for a reason. Bring me the head of Stephane Matteau.Originally posted by sggg
