Anyway, although I'm not really that excited for about this game, I'll be getting anyway. From what I've seen the game looks to be quite enjoyable.
VC got 10s? With all the glitches?

I love VC, but perfect it is not.

  2. well, as for the combat, i haven't read anything about being repetitive, jus this little part...
"The only qualm we have with the combat, is that you must repeatedly engage in the same battles. It's meant to be faithful to the previous Metroids, where enemies reappear after you leave a room, but with the increased difficulty and complexity it can seem unfair at times. It's debatable, however, and once you've honed your skills enough it shouldn't pose a major problem."
well, that's classic Metroid if you ask me.

and Andy, how can the game not having any multiplayer modes be such a big deal for you? Metroid has never had any multiplayer, so why should this one? seems to me like you don't seem to understand that this is still a Metroid game, just viewed from a first person perspective most of the time. it's not a FPS.

oh, and it's nice to see that they didn't end up using Tommy Talorico or whatever the fuck his name is for the music.

  3. I don't recall enemies respawning as soon as you exit a room. Maybe after a while, but not immediately. Certainly not in Super Metroid.

  7. November 11, 2002 - Today IGNcube traveled to Redmond, Washington to visit Nintendo's headquarters. The purpose of the trip was to attend a roundtable interview with select members of the press and those closely involved with the development of Nintendo's highly acclaimed new title Metroid Prime. Via videoconferencing, we were able to pick the minds of Retro Studios and Nintendo of Japan. We'll have the full transcript of the session available shortly, but for now sit tight with a few tasty quotes.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Commenting on the relationship with Retro Studios, Shigeru Miyamoto, Metroid Prime producer, Nintendo of Japan, said, "This is the first time we've worked on a title with a foreign team to this degree. [Retro] has developed a game that the Japanese media have accepted, and it will be embraced by the Japanese gaming community."

Retro Studios originally began work on its own project when it was formed in 1998. Shortly after Miyamoto became involved and recalled thinking "Retro could do Metroid for us." Eventually one thing led to another and the first concepts began to be rolled out in June 1999. Miyamoto also said he was delighted to be involved with Metroid Prime, recalling, "I remember saying, 'Let's make this look good. Let's make a really cool game.'"

Also, when asked about what kind of game Metroid Prime should be labeled as, Retro Studios' Steve Barcia, executive producer, said "It's an eerie isolated experience." He further noted about it being deemed a first-person shooter, "We weren't trying to fit in that genre." And, according to Mr. Miyamoto, when development started the team decided, "We're going to call this an exploration game."

Then, when asked how they would rate Metroid Prime's transition on a scale of 1-10 (with ten being the highest), Mr. Miyamoto pondered for a moment and said, "Juni." In English that is "12." Retro Studios agreed. The laughter from the development group was a clear sign they were only joking, but Nintendo is obviously very pleased with Prime's faithfulness to the franchise.

Check back soon for more details.

Maybe. I could be thinking of the initial dive, where the hallways are clear.

Whatever then. Classic Metroid or not, constant respawning sucks.
