Can you hit the guy twice in a row?
He's got a wide attack range when he does the teleport attack, but it can be avoided. I can't remember what tipped me off, but I usually knew when it was coming and then it just became an issue of timing. I believe that once you start dashing from him it must be done so that he appears just as you're dashing off, so he materializes as you're basically gone. Wait a split-second and then do it again and it should keep that pattern running until he stops. If you falter he'll catch up and if you're too fast he'll teleport with you and hit.

It's definitely an action game but it has a lot of strategy and skill. The first time I played it I was kind of bored because it seemed like just a hack and slash. But once I learned how to play I saw how much strategy was involved in figuring out how to use your various skills and how to defeat certain enemies. How to perform tate. How to take down the bosses. Plus there are the unlockables and a scoring/grading system. The game appeals to me in the same way that shmups do as a matter of fact.![]()

I don't believe so, so make each hit count. The more guys lined up for a Tate, the greater the damage.Originally posted by Green

Damn, We really need to get back to Shinobi, and finish it up.
I still dont agree about the camera choice. As I said before it, Hotsumas movements are too fast for the camera to follow accordingly, especially when dashing around, and that makes it very easy to get disoriented, especially in tight quarters. Plus the lock on feature, will try to lock on next available enemy, thus sometimes making you move in the direction you didnt plan to go.
Flow with the Force, my young padawan, not against it. While locked-on, using dash as your immediate form of movement after attacking an enemy will automatically move you in the direction of your next target. Outside of bosses, you don't need to know your exact location while ripping through groups, and lock-dash is the only way to make it through mid-air groupings. Trust in the Force and let it be your guide.Originally posted by Despair

But I do like to know my locations, since those very important to your survival during the fight. Or at least try to stay away from the botomless holes
Yes, Lock Dashing is more easier in interior levels, or in narrow passage ways. But when fighting near lave fields or water stages, its more confusing.
About auto aim, it has its plusses and minuses. When fighting regular enemies, and just trying to eliminate them as fast as possible, its good. But when attacking a Boss, and when you about to hit him/her your lock switches to smaller enemy who just got closer to you, and that screws up your attack, it not as good.
Since the point is to Tate, shouldn't you have already smacked that little enemy senseless in the first place? But when attacking a Boss, and when you about to hit him/her your lock switches to smaller enemy who just got closer to you, and that screws up your attack, it not as good.![]()
Thats not always the case. As you well know, during Boss fights, those appear in groups of 3-4 with certain intervals. Once you chain-killed 4-5, and there are no more, you rushing to get closer to the Boss to either try to TATE him, or at least do a big damage while youe sword is still charged up. And when you about to hit him, few more smaller enemies appear, and that changes the focus of your attack. While you dashing to get that smaller demon, Boss either has a chance to attack you, or run away, which screws up your plans. Now, you have to go after the boss once again, and not always can actually make it on time, or you get hurt by Boss attack.
Sure, with training you do get better with locking & dashing, but it still somewhat pain in the ass![]()
Off topic, but Green, The Sounds of Science rocks. Definitely my favorite Beastie Boys song.
I have yet to play Shinobi. My friend said that it got extremely boring really fast, but he also said that about Contra:SS. I really liked Contra:SS though so Shinobi could be a lot of fun, still.
I really like Hotsuma's scarf.
A winner is you. I didn't even know it was Sounds of Science, I was just listening to Paul's Beatique and thought I had a game quote no one would know. Guess I have to try harder.
