  1. CLICK = Press the button once to turn on LOCK-ON, press it again to turn LOCK-ON off.

HOLD = Hold the button down to LOCK-ON.

I actually switched to CLICK when I got to the Moth Boss and I was struggling against her so I thought I'd give it a shot. It helped quite a bit. Then I went back and forth for a bit before finally settling on CLICK. For me it feels a lot more natural to toggle LOCK-ON on and off for some reason and it improved my play a lot. It took some getting used to but then it became second nature toggling it really quickly.

It's probably a matter of individual preference though.

  2. Ill check it out, now, when you CLICK on an enemy and flip out to kill the whole town, I assume it automatically locks on to another enemy in the vicinity, instead of having to CLICK again...right?

  3. I'm using Click, since the Hold method and Automatic lock on were more annoying than helpful.

Yeh, let's say there are 5 enemies on screen. You can click lock-on on.. then go after the first guy, then it will automatically lock-on the second, then when he's toast it locks-on to the 3rd, and so on down the line until the TATE is achieved (or you fail).

This works especially well for setting up TATE on bosse. It also makes pulling off TATE over bottomless pits (like in level 7A) a piece of cake...

At times when it's not working right (or how you want it to) you just have to turn it off and then re-position yourself to turn it on again. That takes a little getting used to and practice.... But it does not take long and once you get used to it it is very predictable and intuitive and you'll be toggling effortlessly.

I honestly don't think I could switch back now because I think it's that much better. It makes dashing and TATEing so much easier.

  5. Hmmm...I'll give that a try. Sounds less fun, though. I like working all those different buttons at once.

  6. You still have to "work the button" just as much in CLICK-mode actually. You'll be toggling the lock-on on and off a lot.

One interesting thing about CLICK which takes some getting used to is if the enemies are far away Hotsuma will walk really slowly with his hand on his sword, unless he's dashing. So if you are in a wide open stage like Level 6 you'll be toggling even more...

Anyway, can't hurt to give it a try and see if you like it. I wasn't sure at first but I am glad I stuck with it.

  7. I finally beat "Moth Bitch", as OPM calls her around their office. It was pretty hard until it finally clicked with me that I shouldn't double jump right off, but leave one jump in case I missed a mid-air dash. For some reason, I had it in my head that I should be able to kill all those butterfly things in one go without touching the ground. Once I started doing that, I wasn't constantly falling into the lava after missed Tates, and I killed her in like two hits.

Now I'm on 5-A....okay, I can cut missiles and tanks in half, shrug off bullet-wounds to the face and jump over skyscrapers, but I can't swim. That's not what I call REAL ULTIMATE POWER. Ah, videogame logic. When I finally defeat the bad guys, I'm using my prestige as Oboro Clan leader to build the Kobushi-Sama Memorial Pool and Ninja Community Center. You'd think they'd learn to at least stay afloat in water before learning stealth dashes and shuriken bursts, but I guess that's why I'm not a ninja.

Anyway, this level seems kind of tough, but I made it pretty far before one of those cheapass wall chicks tossed a knife at me and I fell off the wall. Next time.

  8. Great stuff Strider

The whole swim like a brick thing bugs me as well. Especially whe he can walk in the lava pits(they only hurt him), where water kills him instantly.

They're opposites. At Ninja Academy, Hotsuma clearly took fire resistance classes in favor of being able to swim. Possibly even drink.

  10. "Something in the water"

It's not just Hotsuma though; Moritsune and Joe Musashi can't swim either.

There must be "something in the water".
