Thread: ATTN: Southern California Arcade gamers

  1. SHIT!

The end of an era. I actually made a trip out to California SPECIFICALLY to see the legendary (within the SF circles) SHGL. At least I got to see it before it dies...

    Sad news, indeed.

At least we still have the arcade at the Willowbrook Mall- place is still packed every weekend...

  2. I can't get in Shoryuken.com for some reason. This devastating news must've caused quite the traffic overload over there.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I will post more information when it becomes available.

Bottom line is that the Stanton City Council approved a zoning change allowing the construction for residential development on the property that SHGL sits on. This paves the way for the sale of the property and its eventual redevelopment

I don't know what the exact closing date is yet. Most of the arcade games will be transferred to Camelot Golfland.

  4. Well at least you'll have X-Box Live.

Perhaps but that won't keep it open. Pasadena's city counsil is going apeshit trying to get Pak-Mann shut down(Cuz y'know, only hooligans hang out in arcades). it's just a matter of time.

Anyway, this rather sucks for obvious reasons.

True, but in comparing the selection of games... ehh...

Although I do have to give the owner/operator(s) of Fun & Games some credit: they have a perfect location, they get some big new releases in (not enough older PCB's though), multiple cabs of the more popular games (CvS2, SC2, T4), as well as keeping the games in top playing condition. Plus, F&G has the best selection of pinball tables I've seen outside the annual pinball convention

  8. Looks like I'll never get to see the place.
