Thread: House of the Dead... the movie...

  1. Well, When you get it for free, and got nothing else to do, I think I will take the chance

  2. This movie was classy, and I mean that in every way except the actual definition of the word. The videogame footage was an instant laugh for me every time, and the horrible inconsistancy in action and setup during that huge kill everyone scene was beautifully bad. My favorite scenes came during the actual house when they tried to cram all the acting, relationships, and suspense into a fifteen minute period and failed masterfully in every way.

When that guy with the long hair looked like he wandered into an after-school special and was doing his best to pretend he was acting about being sad, and how he failed, and how no one understands him which caused him and the dark-haired female to start sucking face... I knew then, more then ever, that not only did they have no fucking clue what the hell they supposed to be doing but that I was equally lost. I'd have to say that scene was my favorite, followed by the bit on the boat where the fisherman with a hook for a hand gives the topless blonde female a cross necklace and all at once a million voices screamed out in terror and were suddenly silenced at the horror with which these pathetic excuses for actors delivered their lines.

I am so buying this when it comes out on DVD.

If you still have it you could do what I did and use CloneCD to create a virtual CD-ROM and load the disc like that to run it through PowerDVD or some such program. At least, I think it was CloneCD... someone else installed it so I can't remember exactly right now.

  3. This sounds great. I love bad movies.

Go home and be a family man.

  4. Im downloading it now... well should I say "uploading" it... stupid BitTorrent.

  5. You know, back when the Street Fighter movie was announced, me and my friends used to joke that they'd have the life bars at the top of the screen whenever they'd have a fight scene...HOTD seems to have brought the joke to life, in a manner of speaking. I still can't believe they included footage from the game...

  6. I'll be renting this for sure.

  7. Well, I saw it yesterday...I can't decide if I loved it or if it was the worst movie ever made. It certainly fell into the "so bad it's good" catagory. That 25 minute scene where they get the guns and try to get to the house and have to fight an army of zombies had me cracking up. I've never seen so many Matrix rip-off effects in one movie in my life, it seemed like they took turns panning around every single character whenever they were shooting. People would jump in the air, freeze, the camera would pan around, they'd fire, the bullet would fly in slow motion, etc. The Chinese rave chick in the red white and blue (her name was "Liberty" ) jumpsuit doing kung-fu on the zombies was hilarious. But what was up with that wacky flashback the one guy had when he saw her get killed? That was retarded. And the shots of the game spliced in with the movie just added to the cheese factor 100x, and it happened constantly! Hell, you even saw "PUSH START BUTTON" and "RELOAD" screens! Everything about the movie was horrible, but it was short, fast paced, had cute chicks (the redhead was HOT! and the slo-mo boob jiggle at the ned ruled), and was fast-paced. Some nice zombie gore as well- lots of exploding heads!

Overall, it was a very shitty movie, but it was fun. Hell, I'd even go so far as to say that I was very entertained. I think this is going to be it's last week of release, since there was only one showing at my theater (and the PSM disc is advertising the DVD release already...it'll probably be released next week or something). I'm glad I caught it in theaters. I haven't laughed this much in ages. It made the Resident Evil movie seem like fine art.

  8. Well, I finally dowloaded it, and watched few bits, and most of those were hillariously bad, especially big battle sequence, that Dolemite described above.

Some of the gore fx I seen were ok, and cheesy enough for this type of flick, and Slo-mo went into overload. I actually liked the part of shotgun blast separating into many pellets and then hitting the zombie, going through and flying away. It was a neat effect that deserves to be in a better film.

Got to watch all of HOTD and TCM remake now. Hopefully i will find some time tonight to finish those 2.

  9. Looking forward to hearing what you think, Despair. HOTD- #1 comedy this year!
