I love this movie! I feel that the commentary and deleted scenes really flesh out the story a lot more. Defiantly not a movie to get on VHS, it just doesnĄ¯t feel right w/o the extras.

A question:
Who here thinks they truly understand it?
At first, I thought I had a grasp of whats going on, but after reading some material on the net, it all made much more sense.
For all of you that say this movie is overrated, you are wrong. There is not a movie out there that matches its sense of humor and awesomeness. If anyone disagrees with me they are wrong. So don't even try. Great movie. Boondock Saints on the otherhand is over rated. Its one of those movies that all the stupid kids at your school see and they all rave about it being awesome because of the violence and the stupid irish people. It is only okay if that.

Alright, I just watched Korly's copy, and regarldess I'm going to best buy to grab this DVD ASAP. I THINK I have an idea of what happened, and no, I havent had time to watch the comentaries.
Spoilers I guess....
The plane engine that fell in the house was actually the plane that the mother and sister were in. That's about as far as I can reason on that part. Donnie loved Gretchen, so in order to save her, he died in the beginning(end) so that she would never have met him, and time would have continued differently than what happened in the movie.

That's pretty much it. Everyone moves along by basic, immediate desire and emotion while good ol' clairvoyant Donnie was in full control and saw days into the future and decided to go another way.Donnie loved Gretchen, so in order to save her, he died in the beginning(end) so that she would never have met him, and time would have continued differently than what happened in the movie.
Whether the engine is from the mother's plane - through a time hole or whatever it was called - or otherwise isn't particularly important.
I don't think you're right nor do I see where you got that answer from.Originally posted by Korly
What the hell was that supposed to mean?
Gee, I'd guess http://www.donniedarko.com would be a great place to start.
In fact, the splash page mentions that "The Tangent Universe collapsed 470 days, 18 hours, 45 minutes, and 51 seconds ago" (and of course, it's always counting forward.)
Oh, and the fact that THATS THE WHOLE FUCKING POINT OF THE MOVIE.
Watching/listening to the directors commentary wouldn't kill you either, if you in fact did want to understand the movie fully.
But, you know, whatever.
