Yeah, I'll chirp in and say that despite preferring standard fps controls, Metroid is really growing on me. Exploration is fun again, instead of the chore it is in most games. I didnt' realize you could turn of the "hints", though. Think I'll do that; even though they don't really affect how I play at all, they're just a little too "un-metroid".
**MINOR SPOILER**
Also, I like how they worked in your suit being damaged, so that you didn't start with all your abilities at the beginning of the game (a logic gap I was wondering about), but am a little disappointed that they're just randomly spread out around the place, with no sense of reason, besides pacing. I guess games like Halo and Half-Life (and not because they're fps) sort-of spoiled me on that whole "believable atmosphere" thing. Which sucks, because I love metroid, and it has twice as much atmosphere as either of those, just some odd remnants from its more primitive days holding over, I suppose. As a side question...does anyone play with an original pad? I use a wavebird, and I'm wondering if I'm missing anything without the rumble?
