I haven't been blown away by Prime yet, but I can say that it succsfully followed up Super Metroid, and that itself is a fantastic compliment.
Then everyone would be complaning about the camera. there is no pleasing everyone. They tried a 3rd person view with this game, but with help from gaming's Jesus Christ, it was decided that first person view works best. I'll take their word for it.Originally posted by Nigel-The-Landstalker
I would much rather it have gameplay like Tomb Raider or Soul Reaver, just with the Metroid magic. AT least then I can actually see being able to use the screw attack.

Is anyone finding it rather hard to use the dash evade when locked onto an enemy?
It seems to work fine sometimes, but sometimes I don't go anywhere.
Yes, I've had the same thing happen. It's not like it's hard to push B to evade so I'm sure it's not me. I'm sure we'll have resposes saying differently though.Originally posted by PBMaX

I have to agree with Kinopio and Nigel so far.
I only got 5% in the game before I died on the plant boss. The main reason I died was I couldn't lock on quick enough to shoot.
So far the biggest problem I have with the game is control. Namely, the no look with C-stick and the fact that the lock-on doesn't seem to work unless the enemy is dead center of the screen (or in the immediate area), making fast-paced action and fights somewhat tougher than they should be (At least for me. This is where TOOT kills MP as far as lock on is concerned, Mech-Deus.). If (as Nigel said) I had a way of turning around quicker, this might not be that big of an issue.
I am, however, enjoying the game a lot so far, but I have to admit I only died because of this. If this game even just offered a secondary control scheme (and in this day and age, I think it should be MANDATORY in all games to offer either several control configurations or a customizing mode) I would be in gaming nirvana. But instead, I'm just having a real good time playing a great game.
80/100 so far (but would be a 95, easily, if not for the controls), probably will get higher as the game goes on.
me too. sometimes ill jump....sometimes nothing....and very rarely ill dash. pisses me off to no end.Originally posted by Nigel-The-Landstalker

I have no problems with the jumping in this game. It feels natural and I can usually always see where I'm jumping to. If not I just use the right trigger to look around, then jump safetly. Useing the left stick for strafeing is fine by me.
The Z-targeting is a work of ingenius again in this game and every other Nintendo game that follows. It simply makes shooting enemies so easy to do, just like in the 2-D metroids.
The jumping is integral to this game and what makes this game so great. Without it, the sence of exploration would be cut off considerably.
I'm surprised that your not floored by this game Lucas, seeing you hypeing it so much. I went into this game with really low expectations and came out loving it so much. I have not been this happy with a Nintendo game since Majoras Mask.

I picked it up yesterday night, only played for about a half hour though.
Seems awesome so far.
The design, atmosphere, and attention to detail are uncanny...
The mines are the first truly difficult area...
For those having problems dodging, tap it to dodge, press it to jump. Just feather it lightly if you want to dodge...
