25? Dang, I feel like a youngin' at 19.
I too enjoyed FFX more than FF7

All I can say is that FF7 is well respected by lots of people, including many gaming publications, so it must have done something right. You not liking it isn't going to change that fact.Originally posted by teenwolf
What was amazing about FF7? The horribly contrived stereotypical characters, slow battles and attacks and ancient battle system, for the most part non-existant character development and a convoluted and messy storyline? Or how about the inane dialogue? It had FMV and good graphics... Sorry, but that just couldn't make up for its flaws. I knew something was terribly wrong the moment barret started talking, and don't even get me started on "Cait Sith". ugh, someone needed a savage beating for creating that monstrosity of a character. And as for FF7 appeal to the masses who hadn't played rpg's before, who needs them?
My dislike of it has nothing to do with simply its going from 2D to 3D. They put out a game that had FMV and 3D as its big killer features, the storyline was also touted but ended up being a mess with hardly any real feeling attached. I would rather have an older style game that didn't lose many of the great things I loved about the Final Fantasy series, but apparently I was supposed to be dazzled by the graphics and FMV. And Mario 64 sucked compared to Super Mario World, have you played it recently? The camera system was horrible and was a constant annoyance throughout the game. Something new isn't inherently better than something experienced many times. I have played zelda 3 at least 10 times and never get tired of it, it is fun. That is what things should be rated on, that and basic game issues.
I have enjoyed FFX quite a bit, far superior to FF7. Has nothing to do with 3D vs 2D, just rating the entire game based on its various components. FF4 still tops them all imho.
Well that's like, your opinion, man.
This thread made me start playing FFVII again.Originally posted by teenwolf

I love the "horribly contrived stereotypical characters" and the "slow battles and attacks" and especially the "ancient battle system".
I especially liked how the use of "non-existant character development" made me care so much about the characters that I cried like a bitch at a certain point in the game.
I actually hate Sephiroth.
Yes really... I actually hate a character in a video game.
And yes, I recently played Mario 64. It still rocks.
Hell yeah I played through Mario 64 a couple months ago. The camera IS annoying as hell in some parts, but I see it as a very forgiveable offense considering the game is still so damn fun to play
Yep, like Mech said about OoT, Mario 64 is one of those games that has "it" and will never lose it.
Well that's like, your opinion, man.
When you guys replay a game, like say FF7, do you feel the need to grab everything? I've tried replaying it a couple of times, but always quit as I get around to the point of getting Aerith's final limit. I hated that.

Wow, it did? I better trade in my predominantly 2D version for this apparent upgrade! My dislike of it has nothing to do with simply its going from 2D to 3D.
Holy shit, that is the first time I've ever seen anyone reference that part without spoiling it. IT's like the first thing they usually tell you when someone finds out you're playing it.Originally posted by 88mph
