With regards to that point in FFVII, I always find it amusing that people act like that has never happened in an RPG before.

I never liked the "muhahaha I'm such a bastard" villains. Dhaos from ToP is my fave because he's actually sympathetic. That's so much harder to pull off in a villain.

Well I played FF7 twice. I went back to play it again because I wanted to beat the Weapons, which I hadn't done the first time. The second time through I pretty much did everything you could do. Well not "everything." To most people it would be everything, but my friend got every Master Materia for EVERY character. If you've played FF7 you know how much time and dedication that takes and how crazy someone must be to do it, so in light of the fact I can't really say I did everything. Almost everything though.

None of the other RPGs I had played before that had a scene that affected me like that.

And I refuse to deal with any possible spoiler related stuff, so I can't explain any better.

But did your friend get Master Materia for all the sub characters so he would never have to switch materia around?

Cause...uh...I have a friend who...uh...knows a guy who did that.

If by sub characters you mean characters he had but didn't really use, then yes. Even Vincent, the worst character ever, had his very own Master Materia. I know, it's crazy.
