Thread: Age Matters

  1. I would like to point out that FF7 is the most impressive FF game, but FF6 remains the best. Ever.

Seriously, has anyone ever seen another RPG that manages to balance that many great characters so well? My goodness, you could make a case for 6 of them being the main character. They all had wonderful back stories...Terras lost memories...Locke attmepting to redeem himself...Sabin and Edger splitting up...Shadows mysterious past...Cyan coming to grips with losing his family...hell even Gau had interesting things to find reveal (if you had the dedication to find them all). It is a picture perfect example of how to sculpt characters in an RPG. No one character ever got more or less attention than they deserved.

All the touching moments (Poisong of Domma, "End of the World", Leap of Faith, Terra's awakening, Opera Scene, the Coin Flip, Kefka's Tower). I know there are about 100 other awesome scenes in this game that I could probably list off. The game flat out had heart and soul.

The graphics were at the top of its class. I still remember drooling at the games introduction of the Magi-Tech soliders marching towards the mines, not able to belive they could make such detailed backrounds and characters. The soundtrack is amazing, beyond the call of duty even for Final Fantasy. Again...Opera Scene anyone?

The gameplay was a fantastic upgrade...the Active Battle system was a great addition. Relics were a very good thing, and the espers added a new dimension to magic. The enemies had a huge varaiaty, and nearly all of them had littly tidbits of info you could use to exploit elsewhere.

It had good length, but it never got dull. The game always was moving forward with an important event. It never got too difficult, nor too hard...the game had a perfect balance (unless of course you level up like a madman).

    Serious. RPG. Perfection.
You probably don't think I'm a very nice guy...

Am I? I would be more convinced if you were making sense.

I must be insane but I remember only two ways to get the master materia. (1) The trade in Kalm and (2) mastering all materia in a class AND THEN getting the master from the huge materia (which there might be a limit for if I remember my disappointment correctly). I don't recall any master materia spontaneously appearing or huge materia freebies.

Uh, is Frogtown located in the Bizarro-world by any chance?

I'm almost positive there is no limit for getting master materia from huge materia. And since you get a copy of a materia everytime you master that materia (like if you master All a brand new All will pop up) you can never run out of materia. It's just a matter of mastering every class 8 times. It's quite time consuming, but it can be done.
Well that's like, your opinion, man.

It can be done if you have a year to waste on your hands..

  6. Nope, only 5 months.

Or less, if you play 16+ hours a day like I did.

  8. #138
Then you'll need about 2 weeks at 16 hours a day. I would get so bored of fighting monsters for 200 hours..

    Never!
