It looks like Sony is losing some control of the company. Since Square shares are being traded for Enix shares at 1 to .81, that means Sony's ownership goes from 19% to 15.39%.
It may still be possible for Nintendo to pull a DQ8 exclusive -- whether that is what the megaton announcement is or not remains to be seen.

The graphics in no.7 were about snes grade in quality so I wouldn't be surprised.

well according to the one article it said Square was being disbanded on paper
which would mean no more Square which would mean sony owns 19% of a company that on paper doesnt exist any more and there for they wouldnt own anything of this new company
which may mean Square and Enix games on something other than a sony system

No no.. That happens after the stock swap. Sony will receive 15% of Square Enix stock in return for their 19% of Square stock. They still retain some influence, but Enix stockholders retain 19% of the new company. Whether that's enough to keep Sony at bay is not known yet.Originally posted by Shin Johnpv

I care only because it affects Tri-Ace, one of my very favorite developers. I'm not sure if Enix owns them or not but I'd really hate to see them under the reign of Squaresoft.
Sega and Enix had long stood my favorite.
