Thread: Enix and Square to merge in next fiscal year...

  1. Meh, yeah ok, whatever.

I saw this coming from 5 miles back, but that April 1st date casts a mighty large shadow of suspicion on this "news".

who knows......that's a very good question. whatever the case though, they just better pump out some more games soon...where's valkyrie profile 2? can't wait to get my hands on the new star ocean game though. you know what's funny? that composer guy.....matoi sakuraba....he seems to do better music under the tri ace name. maybe it's just me.

  3. I don't care whoever's in charge of Square or Enix just so long as they convince (or coerce) Tri-Ace into making me a sequel to Valkyrie Profile.

    Pleeeeeeeease?

  4. Some perverse part of me wants Nintendo to buy 49% of the shares to get a controlling stake. Gamecube sales are dire worldwide, i'd love to see Nintendo make a comeback. The potential to top the Super Famicom is there.

  5. But that would in turn force Microsoft and Sony to buy up every other big publisher out there to keep their lead. You don't want that, now do you?
Buy Yakuza and Oblivion. Help yourself, help TNL.

  6. From MMCafe
...Positions within the company will go as follows.

Yasuhiro Fukushima (Current Enix CEO) > Square Enix CEO
Youichi Wada (Current Square President) > Square Enix President
Keiji Honda (Current Enix President) > Square Enix Vice President

even if you're not being serious, i don't think that would happen. it seems like Nintendo has a better relationship with all the developers that would be considered in these buy out than Sony and MS have. well, atleast with the teams that we care about most.

and if Nintendo did get this 49% buyout, i think the out come would be exactly the same as the outcome that happened once Square and Enix jumped ship and jumped in bed with Sony.

  8. Microsoft have tried to buyout many Japanese developers without success. I get the feeling these Japanese developers do not like Microsoft's presence in the industry as #2 in the west and do not want Sony to dominate a third generation in a row. When Capcom announced those 5 GC games recently the title used during the press conference was "For the growth of the industry, for Gamecube".

They're on the case. I haven't heard from tri-Ace, but Enix has been trying to convinve tri-Ace to do a sequel, as the game was a big success in japan.

I really liked Tales of Phantasia and Golden Sun's soundtracks. ToP is my fave of his. VP and Star Ocean are really excellent though. Profile Project 2 has been rumored for a while, as well, but tri-Ace is a small team, so they only work on one game at a time, and SO3 is a huge project.

  10. So we've got Quest, Square, and Enix all working in tandom under the same company? Their output could be limitless.
You probably don't think I'm a very nice guy...
