Heck, look at the games Sega does now. They're good, but not of the same 'yay' factor that 1st party Sega was capable of.

Not to mention there's no logic in Nintendo going 3rd party.

Aside from doing business as usual, if I ran Nintendo I'd push for more 'mature' games just to play up to the elite I'm-so-much-more-refined-than-you adult demograph, and then make a big online push. Heck, none of this has to be 12st party either - just sign some deals with good 3rd parties to head the adult and online attacks.

I would licence the use of Nintendo properties to other companies for cellphone/handheld software creation, as well as outsource the development of this software at a premium. This would allow all internal hardware and software development to be focussed solely on a home console. With this, I'd lower or potentially eliminate the fees for console development and permit any third-party developer to make software for Nintendo products on any terms they deem fit. In essence, Nintendo would stop pretending to be a "family oriented" producer and go back to simply being the single largest provider of videogame products worldwide.

I would:

Set aside an online plan and more importantly, a team (or teams) devoted to making games that would be fun to play online.

Push for more 3rd party support, snap up the rights for first release on the Cube before PS2/Xbox versions.

Look into smaller independent developers and invest more money into developing future talent.

First I would disband the company. Then I would start a new company that would put out one Miyamoto game every couple of years. He would have to actually work on the games, which he doesn't seem to do anymore. No more games based on characters that were created in the '80s either. That would mean no more Mario, Zelda and Metroid. It's time for some new ideas. Nintendo needs to stop raping old video game mascots.
