Thread: New SEGA games and the return of SEGA AGES

  1. A company does something to reward the long-time fans, and to educate new fans. And they get shit on by the folks who want the stuff. Love the logic.

I want every game ever made to be released on one disc for three dollars. I will cry like a pussy on internet message boards until this happens.
If this was Nintendo, you'd be bitching too.

Sounds like a company is doing something to try and make a quick buck, and it's not doing a very good job of it.

There are several games I would be quite happy if Nintendo would re-release on the Gamecube (not the GBA).

There are plenty of amazing games they have done in the past that I would pay full price for.

As long as they come out with some sort of "extras" or redone graphics or some shit I would break my emulation streak, and buy them.

Is that directed at me? Because if it is it makes no sense.
Buy Yakuza and Oblivion. Help yourself, help TNL.

  5. It involves Sega, and making money, of course they're not doing a good job of it.

  6. I still don't understand what rule of marketing requires publishers to give away their games in large compilations to make them worth buying, or even for them to sell well.

Rereleases of this type have done quite well in Japan. Since Sega games are of indisputably high quality, I don't see why these games won't sell any worse at 2500 yen each.

  7. Oh, and Andy, that wasn't directed at you. I see nothing wrong with re-releasing games as long as the quality of the game warrants the price tag.

My math shows these games are coming out at around twenty bucks (give or take).

What the fuck is the problem?

  9. People not wanting to spend $20 on a game that they'd get more than their $20 out of.

  10. And aside from the Sonic games and Shenmue 2, of all their DC and Genesis ports so far, how many have sold well? GBA Smash Pack? Ferrari F355? Crazy Taxi? Phantasy Star Collection? Typing of the Dead? Sega GT? Hundred Swords? Rez? 18 Wheeler AM Pro Trucker? Alterd Beast? Columns? HeadHunter? None. Thank you very much. (and no, PSOv1&2 doesn't count, since so much of it is new)
Buy Yakuza and Oblivion. Help yourself, help TNL.
