Thread: Beep beep! Make way! Merger coming through!

  1. Beep beep! Make way! Merger coming through!

Alrighty, speculation time, folks. Justin from the Gaming Age boards posted the following news

Two of the following companies are in final talks for a full blown merger:

    Capcom
    Sega
    Namco
    Konami

Take that as you will, both Justin and John from the GA boards are reliable so... speculate away!
bastard of the new world order.

  2. I could see Namco and Sega merging.

    VF vs. Tekken.
    Daytona vs. Ridge Racer

I would say Sega and Namco due to their huge arcade holdings, even compared to the other two companies. Plus both companies have teamed to promote arcade games in the past.

Konami teaming with anyone I cannot see simply because they seem in good fiscal shape with a number of strong selling titles. *-neo

  4. i think we might as well rule out Konami + Capcom.
MK2 on XBLA plz - let the unfolding of gameplay begin!!

Companies don't necessarily merge with each other because they're failing - that's the worst time to execute a merger.

Still, Sega and Namco seem to make sense:

Sega makes good games that aren't popular,
Namco makes accessible, popular ripoffs of Sega games.

Seems like a good match to me.

  6. Yeah, Sega + Namco would seem to make the most sense.

  7. Adfter the Square Enix thing, I wouldn't be surprised.

  8. Sega Namco probably...

  9. Sega and Capcom, Sega and Capcom! *crosses fingers*

It will most likely be Sega and Namco though.

I'm going to go with the consensus and say Sega and Namco. They really seem to have the most in common. But, who knows, it may never happen.. at one point, Sega and Bandai were very close to a merger, and the deal ultimately fell through.

    Should be interesting, regardless.
