Well personally, I'm going to be collecting those actually I agree that there is absolutely no replay in RPGs (aside from plaything through them again months/years after the original play), but most PSone (and other retro systems) games aren't worth any money trading in/selling, so I'm keeping my PSone stuff. Generally retro stuff isn't worth selling/trading in, but if I play through an RPG on a next gen system, yeah, the second it's done it's cash in my pocket.
Buy Yakuza and Oblivion. Help yourself, help TNL.

  2. Ya. I trade games too, and many times -- it's damn worth the effort.

  3. Well, you could just buy something from EB or Gamestop, play it for a few hours to see if its worth keeping, and if not, return it. Most games you can pretty much tell if they are worth your time within the first hour...

  4. Ah, I meant to say - I used to trade. Now I want to build up my library.

  5. Work on your pile of shame. If you want something new to play, there's plenty of great games from the 16 and 8-bit eras that can be found for under $10. Or, if you're really skint, look for games in your collection you don't see yourself ever playing and Ebay 'em.

  6. Keyword; "Prioritize"

I make a list of all potential games and rate them accordingly:

High = Must have at all costs

Medium = Really want but wait till I see it on sale

Low = Wait until it hits bargain bin

...using this method, I've been able to manage my gaming needs rather efficiently.

PS - if you choose to make a list, it will require constant maintenance in order to keep yourself from getting overwhelmed.

PSS - if you're lucky you can also acquire games that are "must have", also on sale. Just keep an eye on your Super Sunday Spectacular

  7. Ah yes, the gamer on a budget, that describes me perfectly. Hmmm, let's see, so far this year the only games I bought at full retail were Animal Crossing and Vice City, yet I still manage to play new games all the time (hey, if you've never played it before, then it's new to you). The PS2 is the perfect system for the cheap gamer, I've been buying a game for about $17 every other week, and it's been working out fine.

    Rent.
I've recently started doing this, and it's not too bad. Most games these days are short, and are not worth full retail, so instead of burning away $50 on a short title, why not just spend $5 and beat it in a week? If you like, buy it once it drops in price.

  8. I just don't really play video games all that much...I can't stay focused on them. So, video gaming isn't that expensive as long as I avoid creating a pile of shame and keep my eyes off of EBay Saturn actions.

If I really needed to stretch a gaming dollar for some reason I'd stick to just buying sports games. Play a season of All-Star or NBA2k3 and you'll be busy for a long, long time.

When is someone going to suggest piracy?

  9. Make a budget and show some restraint. If you can't say "no" to that game that's gonna make you miss paying the bills then you've got a problem.

  10. Our resident pirate (Ethugg) is no longer with us, so it's going to take a bit longer than usual for the piracy suggestion to come up.

I hope it doesn't, quite frankly. Get legit copies or don't play the game.

EDIT: This was my 1000th post. Yay me!
