  2. Well I am on a very limited budget with me being an unemployed college student so I tend to buy used and/or older games. I also watch for great deals on the newer games and check the clearance areas at places like Target. Sometimes you can find great deals!

  3. Protip: Use your food money to buy games.

  4. I have other hobbies. I buy pretty much all the games I want, and the time I'm not involved with them I'm doing something else.

    Well emulation always works.
Well that's like, your opinion, man.

  6. I'm kinda on a half-budget... Right now I'm getting rid of games that I don't deem necessary to own. Why hold on to something that is just sitting there? Once you can get the idea of "libraries" out of your head, things become quite a bit easier.

  7. Thankfully, I can buy every new game I want. In between releases, I tend to work on the ol' pile of shame. During the slow summer months, I build up my Genesis, NES and TG-16 libraries.

  8. The best thing to be, in my estimation, is patient. If you can hold out on the latest and hottest items until they're neither, there's really a lot of money to be saved by doing so.

Also, don't get into PCB gaming. Seriously.

  9. Just be bargain savvy...Set a price in your mind what you want to pay for a specific game and stand by that price. (I'm still waiting for Shinobi and Contra to hit the magical $30 price)

eBay is a good source to buy new games under retail.. Bought Phantom Crash for $27 new three weeks ago and a friend bought Blinx for $28 about a week after launch on eBay.

A semi-shady thing to do is to monitor for markdowns at certain stores and compare prices. For example, Eternal Darkness is $28.88 at Target, while it's $49.99 at most other retail outlets. Find a store with a liberal return policy that will take sealed games without a receipt *cough Wal-Mart cough* and tada...any new $49.99 game for $28.88

Check for used games like at Blockbuster and online as well

  10. Sometimes I can control my habit, sometimes I can't. But usually I buy games when they are great deals or they are must play games. I've gotten all my must-have games right now, so I guess the real work is to decrease my pile.

I'm usually stingy with my money, so I'm always eager to find good deals and when I do find one, I try to convince myself that I can find a better deal. This usually works out for the better, sometimes it doesn't and I never see such a deal again... So now I'm waiting for Pikmin to hit the magical $20 mark, among other games like Luigi's Mansion ($15) and FFX ($20).
