    Spyder For Gameboy Advance

Motorola is to ship Spyder to Nintendo of Japan in May of next year. Mass production is to begin in June. I am not sure if it will be integrated internally into new gambeboy advance hardware or if it will be a peripheral that connects to the port atop the present gba.

Spyder is a wireless networking system made specifically for short distance communication. This will allow multiplayer games to be played without a link cable.

This is a bit more intriguing given that the Wavebird is being upgraded to 2.4Ghz, which is necessary for other bluetooth enabled devices to connect with it. That and the forthcoming release of Super Gameboy Advance peripheral for GC that's coming out next year. I don't know how it all fits together, or if it even does...

    Wavebird Expands

I don't have a link for the other info. I heard it in an internal meeting here at Moto. It was mentioned during our Asian region's look ahead to 2003. The bluetooth stuff always interests me because I was the bluetooth logistical liaison for motorola a couple years back, trying to coordinate everything between Finland and Japan and several customers.

I'm thinking that when the wavebird is upgraded, feedback may become possible. Also, if there's a bluetooth device on your gba, wouldn't that allow downloads from an enabled pc and stuff like that?

  3. I'd read that Nintendo's new GBA was going to include cel-phone technology, so I assume it'll be built into the hardware. This isn't suprising considering the popularity of DoCoMo and other cel-phone based gaming networks in Japan, and there were wireless-enabled GBC games there.
