Thread: How satisfied are you with your PS2/GC/XBox?

  1. Look at your sig, Yoshi.

EDIT: And after you do that, take a look at this sales chart and take note how many Japanese games are in the top 10.

    That's right, one.

I think we've reached the point were Japanese titles no longer guarantee a console's long term success.

What the hell is there that everyone is so excited about, seriously?
I really believe that Xbox Year Two already has a number of strong titles on the way. I mean just off the top of my head I can think of stuff like Fable, Brute Force, Ninja Gaiden, DOAXBV, PGR2, Halo 2, Star Wars : KOTOR, Star Wars Galaxies, Marvel vs Capcom 2 (w/ Xbox Live!), Murakumo, Perfect Dark Zero, Battlefield 1942 (w/ voice communicator!), PSO, True Fantasy Online, Sudeki, Otogi, Psychonauts, VF4:Evo...

And then there's the stuff you mentioned like PDO, Dino Crisis 3, maybe Steel Battalion Online in the summer.

Seriously, the Xbox is starting to shape up quite nicely.

I guess that's where it comes down to whether you have a gaming PC or not. I would much prefer to have the PC versions of KotOR and Galaxies, as well as Battlefield 1942. MvC2 does not interest me on any platform, online or off, because I had it years ago on DC, plus it is an average at best game. The same goes for PSO. Ninja Gaiden obviously has serious potential, but I have no faith in Tecmo to come through. I guess it all boils down to taste, and if that is your's, have fun!

  4. I mean I already own BF1942... and the reason why I will still buy the Xbox version is the same reason I'll buy the Xbox version of Galaxies : voice chat over Live.

Especially for 1942, I really believe having voice chat seriously changes the dynamic of the game. The biggest thing that annoys me in that game is that it would be awesome if more tactics could be implemented yet it's difficult to organize anything or relay any information at a good enough pace to be of any use.

In any case, the biggest selling point the Xbox library really has is being to play a variety of games, in a variety of genres, online.

Again, I do believe that the Xbox upcoming library is arguably as strong, if not stronger as either of the other consoles.

I absolutely agree. I am one of those wait-and-see people who doesn't believe that online gaming is all it's cracked up to be. Thus, when that is a system's strongest asset, I am not impressed. Again, it's all about taste.

More than that, Sleeve - I don't think they're important at all, anymore. Having the support of various European teams means more to a console in the US than having the support of Japanese teams.

I can say that the Gamecube has a couple of games on it I like, the PS2 a couple of games, and the Xbox quite a few - more for me in the Xbox library than there is in the GC and PS2 library combined.

  7. I concur with Stone.

Did anyone notice that the top games were from : England, Quebec and the States. The markets a changing, yo.

But then again, it's all about taste. I love American games but I love Japanese games as well. In order for my gaming to be complete, I have to have both a PS2 and Xbox.

  8. Next year, I am looking forward to the GC the most. Though Lionheart on the PC looks to be beter than all the consoles games combined.

    The games I am looking forward to on the GC are Killer 7(HM* = 8), Zelda:TWW(HM* = 5), and Viewtiful Joe(HM* = 5).

    Hype meter.

  9. as of right now, "my" xbox takes top spot over all my other systems. the p2 is rockin, but just doenst have the versitility an xbox does(lets see someone play a damn near perfect rev of Super Mario RPG on their p2)at this moment in time. i mean, jeez:

200snes,2000mame,and an assload of others(gen,gba,n64,etc)...and the psx emu(which hits in a week or so)? yeah...no framerate loss, no sound loss(cept fer the n64 emu, doenst have any sound).

but a "normal" xbox would still be 2nd on my list if it wasnt for all the surgery we've done to it(we can rebuild him, make him stronger!).

    Peace

p.s...yes, i can get on xbox live with this too. hehehehe

  10. Xbox - 9/10: I play this more than any of my other systems. MechAssault online, Halo multiplayer parties, DOA3, and Timesplitters 2 all get plenty of play. Plus, online Capcom fighters make me tingly. Games that support surround sound are nice, too.

PS2 - 8/10: Great lineup, but increasingly disappointing returns in the graphics and performance, and a bleak upcoming year, make this the *current* strongest contender, but not for long.

GC - 6/10: I'd play it more if there wasn't consistently better stuff on the other systems. I only have Metroid Prime and SSBM, everything else was sold on half.com, or in the case of ED, beaten in a rental. Which is a shame, since I really like wavebirds.

GBA - 5/10: Snooze. I only play this a bit, usually when I'm on the bus. It's okay for what it is, but I'd never play it *over* playing a console.
