Thread: Cube Bounty Hunter is fantastic!

  1. Hero: Yup it's true, two different teams designed the 2 versions from the ground up. PS2 version runs at 30 frames per second at it's best usually closer to 20. Cube version is a constant 60. Cube version uses 3 times as many polygons for the character models and environments as the PS2 version, and the Cube version has tighter control. The only thing that's the same between the 2 versions is the levels themselves. This is definately a buy worthy game, too much to see and do in just a rental. The game is challenging, has CGI cinemas that make you wish ILM was making the actual Star Wars movies this way, you'd have a hard time even beating the game on a rental. Let alone mastering the game enough to capture enough bounties to unlock the Dark Horse comic book that tells the story of the Mandalorians, the "outakes", and the other great stuff in the game. This game stands out from every other console game Lucasarts has ever made, if all their games were like this they'd be up there with Sega and Nintendo.

  2. I'm now at chapter 5 of 6, this game is getting better and better.........Although the clock says I've only played 7 hours in reality I've played almost 30 (It doesn't count times you die or don't complete a level, only completions.) Anyone recently discovered this gem?

I rented the game today. It's average in every way. It just feels like a run of the mill action game. I do quite like the jetpack though.

The graphics are also MUCH better than the PS2 version, and the control is tighter. This hit me totally out of left field, I wasn't expecting a Star Wars licensced game to be THIS fantastic in terms of pure gameplay. Check this game out immediately, and if you're a fellow fanboy run to the store! I'll post more detailed info on it later, right now I'm going to go play it more....

I agree with everything you said.

  6. Neozeed: What other 3rd person shooter/platform games are this good or better, if this is only average? I can't think of many. MDK2 and Jet Force Gemini are the only other 2 great 3rd person shooter/platformers I can think of

When I said average I was talking about action games in general, not just this sub-genre. I do think third-person shooter/platform games in general are lacking but I think these all easily beat Bounty Hunter...

MDK1, Devil May Cry, Max Payne, Heavy Metal: FAKK2.

A game could be the only of its kind in a genre and still be considered average. In that case, it doesn't do anything well but doesn't screw anything up either.

  9. Regardless of genre this is a great game though, most of the people I've talked to in detail about it with either love it or can't get over the fact that it requires skill to get bounties without getting shot up, or blame the difficulty of the game on "shitty control" rather than their own lack of skill.
