My choices for candidates, broken down by system. I don't necessarily that I endorse them all... this is just a list of the games I feel will likely have a good chance for media consideration.

PS2 : SOCOM (runners up - VF4, Kingdom Hearts, GTA:VC)
Also, for PS2, I'm not sure if FFX came out too late last year for consideration for GOTY 2001. If it didn't, FFX gets a strong nod.

Xbox : Splinter Cell (runners up - MechAssault, Morrowind, NFL or NBA2K3)

GC : Metroid Prime (runners up - Super Mario Sunshine, Animal Crossing, RE Remake)

GBA : Metroid Fusion (runners up - Zelda:LTTP, Castlevania HoD, Super Mario World)

PC : Warcraft 3 (runners up - Battlefield 1942, Neverwinter Nights, Age of Mythology)
