Just an amazing game, blew me away in all aspects. Amazing sound, graphics, color, level design, and just plain original ideas. And it fits so well into the Metroid universe. Game of the Year.

In terms of new releases, this has been the worst year of gaming since maybe 1997. I'd like to vote for my favorite purchases; however, Grandia, Lunar, Ico, Thousand Arms, and Shenmue II all were released in past years. So, what's left?

DC - Sakura Wars 4
GCN - Animal Crossing
PS2 - Dual Hearts, runner-up Sky Gunner

overall - Well, they're all solid efforts, but not close to anything listed at the top... so I don't think any are worthy enough of a GOTY crown. 2003 should be better, though, as Feb/Mar alone will be like another holiday season...

Shikigami no Shiro (PS2) Kicks the piss out of Ikaruga in short order. I wonder how many of you hardrocks that named Ikaruga the goty have played Shikigami?

Mr Driller Ace (GBA) Best puzzle game ever made in the history of the universe. If I play Drilland by the end of the year I may have to amend that statement.
