    Star Trek Nemesis: Impressions.

Just got back from the theater...

I am not the most verbose member of the TNL boards so I'll be brief.

    Great. Fucking. Movie.

If you are a fan of Star Trek you owe it to yourself to see this movie. If you like sci fi, action, or are a special effects whore you also owe it to yourself to see this movie.

It contains my favorite space battle, not the best, but my favorite.

Yes someone dies... but I don't think I should say who.

It's always pretty funny when you go to a Star Trek Movie and some guys are dressed up like the characters and high five each other thru the whole Movie, and laugh at every subtle joke.

Eh I've actually fallen asleep in Star Trek Movies before.

Wrath of Khan is my personal fav. Scared the hell outta me with those worm larve that enter the ears.

  3. It was a good movie, and a must-see for Picard/Star Trek fans. The fact that the advertising hints that this is the last TNG film adds to the atmosphere of dread.

Patrick Stewart is an amazing actor. God bless him.

Ever see the Christmas Carol with him as Scrooge?

If not, you really need to.

I wish I still had my Patrick Stewart signature... I lost it long ago.

  5. I'm glad that Patrick Stewart is finally going to move on. I just hope he isn't shut out of consideration because of this role that he's played for many years.

  6. He can always play Professor Xavier.

1.) whos great idea was it to transfer all of Data's memory into B-4? why would you do that!?
2.)how did they figure out that B-4 was a sobatuer? big plot hole.
3.) i dont recal Data's brother (forgot his name) ever dying in the series. so why did they say they didnt know where he is? and why wouldnt they question how in the hell THERE IS ANOTHER Data CLONE!? they orignally thought that Data was a one of a kind creation from Dr. Singh, but then they found his brother. and the crew never figured out what really made Data tick, so why would they assume that B-4 being in the middle of a baren planet wouldnt be a bad thing and a oincidence.
4.) they needed to make Counselor Troi nude throughout the whole movie. she sooooo hot.
5.) Troi got raped...in her mind.... how great was that?
6.) seriously..... where the hell did B-4 come from, and how did Praeytor get ahold of him?

yeah thats about it. some other minor things, but id have to see the film again to clairify those.

oh, and by no means am i a Trekkie

  8. Saw it earlier. Overall, I think I could've done better with the script to make it a better movie, but there was at least one highly enjoyable moment worth seeing: Say it with me now, RAMMING SPEED!

  9. SPOILERS!

    well ok then

No kidding. At that point, I was thinking, "Wait, Data knows lots of CLASSIFIED STARFLEET STUFF, why are they giving that to this unknown variable?" It seems odd to me that Picard & crew would make such a procedural and strategic mistake without first studying/analyzing B4 and making sure he wasn't emitting or receiving signals from somewhere... Seeing as they were attacked right after they retrieved all of B4's pieces, shouldn't someone have figured out it was a trap to start with?

2.)how did they figure out that B-4 was a sobatuer? big plot hole.
I figured they pieced everything together once Picard got snatched, the computer was inflitrated and B4 disappeared...

I'm not sure if I'm remembering correctly, but didn't Lore get shot out into space the last time he showed up? They should have used Lore instead of Retard-o-matic...

4.) they needed to make Counselor Troi nude throughout the whole movie. she sooooo hot.
    Yuck.

5.) Troi got raped...in her mind.... how great was that?
It was rather needless the way they used it. Instead of Shinzon just doing it *once*, they should have put it to use more often -- it would have cemented Shinzon as truely evil, instead of being just some kiddie Jean-Luc clone that's pissed cause he never got 24th century Tonka toys as a child.

One glaring motivation error was made by Picard right before he got kidnapped. He wanted Troi to submit to the mindfsck again. Why? Shouldn't he have let her step down from duty to avoid the mental anguish? I mean, asking her to do that again was kind of cruel. Ah well, blame it on the fanboy scriptwriter...

6.) seriously..... where the hell did B-4 come from
Brent Spiner's arse. This is at least one thing that can't be blamed on Rick Berman. Spiner came up with the idea and had the fanboy screenwriter botch it. Not that Nemesis is bad -- it's just slightly non-cannonical...

One question I still have is how the hell did Shinzon manage to build that warship? The radiation gun can be explained away as he heard that the Romulans had it in R&D, so he stole it... but where did he get the resources to build the ship? Oh, wait, he must have visited the Department of Dramatic License...

  10. Those worm larva are cringe-inducing. Yuck! Wrath of Khan has got to be one of the darker entries in the series. The soundtrack to this one has a good-n-eerie mood to it.

Khan himself is one of the more wicked villains in the entire series... a close second to the Borg Queen in First Contact.
