Yeah, that really worked out well.
Indeed. At this point, using the F13 name might actually class up the series a bit.

  2. Maybe they'll go the Halloween route (hopefully not in fucking quality), drop the numbers and call it "Friday the 13th - Origins" or somebull shit like that. Calling it Friday the 13th XI would flip people out, it seems that nobody knows how many F13 movies have been made when I talk to non-geeks.

  3. Speaking of Halloween... anymore news on anything else in the series? Esp. now with Mustapha dead, I can see some legal battles and other BS delaying stuff.

  4. The last thing I heard was that they were talking of doing a prequel to part 4... which would essentially be a replacement for Part 3, but then Mustapha died.

But really, who cares? That series has only given us one really amazing film and 7 really shitty sequals.

  5. Slashers always = shitty... but in a fun way, so that's why I care. They could keep making Nightmare, Friday, and Halloween movies, and I would go see every single one of them in theaters. TCM too.

  6. Halloween 3 is very underrated.

Rent it and just pretend it has nothing to do with the series. It's a very effective movie when taken on its own.

Not hard to pretend since it doesn't I like the idea they had, where every movie would be a different story that happened on Halloween, and I also thought it was very underrated.... until I watched it again. I just felt that it didn't hold up well to repeat viewings and I ending up hating it after liking it initially. The song being repeated all the time didn't help. I think the reason I liked the idea of different stories though is that as a general rule I love anthology series/movies.

On a side note, I just ordered some, um, unofficial releases of Friday the 13th: The Series as well as a couple for Freddy's Nightmares.

That's not really true. The first Halloween is really well made and was really original. The sequels really give the first movie a bad rep for being generic and shitty.

  9. I liked Halloween III as much as the first one. Take that as you will.

That's what bugged me about the first one. Awesome theme, worn out by the fifth time Carpenter used it.

Well, what I mean is that someone complaining about cheesy sequels for slashers is just redundant, and is fine with me, as that is their charm... but I will agree with you... how about this... 80s slashers (since Halloween was '78) are shitty

I know people with that as their ring tone, so I hear it all the time... yet it still doesn't bother me... it's just that great a theme. Now, when it got all "modernized" with extra synth and stuff in the later movies.... THAT sucked.
