Thread: Its wrong to dl and burn games but...

  1. it is wrong... but that won't stop me from doing it

  2. Well, I download some, and if I like it then I buy.

  3. I think it is legal to download the audio tracks from the games you own...it is basically the same as "media shifting" you can't legally download any tracks exclusive to the soundtrack though
"The only way microsoft would make something that doesn't suck is if they made vacuums"

  4. I can see d/ling them to see if you want it, but if you just burn it and have it that way it's not cool.
    Yes.

  5. i'll buy any soundtrack that i can find and that is still in print. if it's old an' out of print though, i don't mind downloading or burning it.

I love game soundtracks, and I buy what I can. But there just aren't that many available, and I download what I must. I got the SOR2 soundtrack a while back (Thanks Click Stick!) and burned it to cd. If I walked into the cd store and found it for sale, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it, but that's just not going to happen.

You can't download MP3s of songs you own on CD, either. It's illegal.

  8. {Scattered thoughts on soundtracks}

I bought the Virtua Fighter 4 soundtrack just to hear the options menu music, it wasn't on there.

I just found my lost for 3 years Final Fantasy 3 Kefka's Domain 3 disc OST. Three is the magic number. They play De La Souls' version at the Hard Rock Cafe in Las Vegas.

I burned a Castlevania comp disc last week.

A local game shop just got a bunch of OST's in. The KOF2K cover is nice. Even soundtracks get spine cards in Japan. (I know you knew)

Alot of soundtracks have better covers than the game it speaks for.

I have been up for 28 hours and worked all day today, ignore the run on sentences.

  9. I'll buy any CD I can afford; but when I run into doujin albums and covers of old game soundtracks on mp3 (and there are a LOT of them out there), I'll burn compilation CD's of them.

I'd love to get my hands on the actual CD's that the doujin circles will occasionally produce though: for instance, the Thunder Force V composer, Tsukumo Hyakutaro put together what few tracks were done for the failed TFVI project and sold it as "Broken Thunder"

    (Hyakutaro's website w/ MIDI versions: http://www.try-net.or.jp/~noise/gallery.html)

Somehow I try to justify it by thinking that they are already so expensive.
So, by that logic, do you steal cars, as well?

Dloading some songs and listening to them once in a while is one thing (illegal, maybe...) but dloading entire albums/soundtracks, burning them to a CD, and listening to them forever instead of buying the retail product is balls-out illegal.

Then again, if a product isn't available in the states, then the company that made them doesn't want your money anyway. That's a better rationalization than "they're too expensive."
