Thread: Your favorite SNES games.

  1. MINE! Also in no order:

Actraiser (that music and those graphics...plus simple action, my kinda game)

Zombies Ate my Neighbors (this one just friggin' has it all!)

    Castlevania 4 (2nd all-time fave game...need I say more! Konami/Treasure joy)

Contra 3 (my fave Contra of them all, I even like it slighty more than Gunstar Heroes!)

    Earthbound (best RPG ever...)

Skyblazer (this one's up there with Actraiser, Contra and Castlevania in my eyes...it's got the action, length, challenge, effects and especially music to stand with the big boys)

Super Double Dragon (music, neato fun gameplay, and nice graphics/design, plus I'm a double dragon mark and this is like, the best one)

Mario world (my favorite Mario game!)

Mario world 2 (2D gaming simply does not get any better...a work of art)

  6. My top 10 titles for the SNES are:

    1) Super Metroid ( Like I need to explain this one)

    2) Zelda: A Link to the Past - The game music just had that certain magic about it, that complemented a solid game.

    3) Rock N' Roll Racing - Before Wipeout, there was RNR. This game was/is what car battle racing is all about. Out of this world jumps, nitrous induced announcer and bad-ass tunes just made this game a riot to play. A great 2 player game!

    4) Super Punchout!!! - While this game did'nt grab me, like the NES version, it still offered a great arcade style boxer, with some humour thrown in.

    5) U.N. Squadron - Leave it to Capcom, to make such a great side scrolling shooter. The bosses were pretty cool and the purchasing of ships was icing on the cake.

    6) Star Fox - While dated by today's graphic standards, this 3-d shooter had Nintendo written all over it. The music was pretty good for a sound chip and the level designs were pretty good. I actually liked this game better, than the N64's Starfox

    7) Final Fantasy III (US) - I loved Final Fantasy II (US) and this game just outdid it in every way. A must own title, for anyone with a SNES.

    8) Gradius III - Sure the game suffered from slowdown and sprite breakup, but it was still an outstanding shooter.

    9) Super Mario Allstars - Super Mario World was like SMB3 on steroids. Then you have all the NES great on one cartridge to go along with it. A must own cartridge, for anyone with a SNES.

    10) Super Street Fighter II Turbo - This game was pretty close to the arcade version, but I found the music to be superior, on the SNES version. Still holds up well today.

  7. No order, that would make my head hurt.

1)Yoshi's Island--Playing this on the GBA the past couple of months, only confirms the feeling that this is one of the finest videogames ever created. Perfection--no two ways about it. Scoring a 100% on each level is mandartory for your full enjoyment.

2)Final Fanatsy II--The nostalgia that the mere mention of this title invokes easily topples any game I've experienced-ever! The soundtrack, story, graphics and a system of battle I'd never before experienced, pulled me into a world I wasn't aware could exist in a videogame.

3)Contar III--That plane flying into the screen giving me my first REAL taste of Mode-7 was enjoyably frightening. Two player action that was unbeatable until Gunstar Heroes.

4)Super Mario World--I was young when I played it. I don't remember exactly how old I was, but I knew, even at that age, that the colors being displayed on screen were unusually crisp and vivid. I wasn't aware at that time I was playing one of the finet platformers ever devised until I went through it a second, third and fourth time over the past decade. If you haven't beaten EVERY level, you haven't REALLY play SMW.

5)Zelda:ALTTP--What can I say about this game that hasn't been said a million times before. My fondest memory is finding the young lad whose run away from home living under the bridge. It's been almost a decade since I've played the game. For some reason that scene stands out. The sense of discovery never let up in Zelda. In 3 days I'll have the GBA title.

I'll do more tomorrow. I wish more people would write little blurbs next to their picks. They're so much more interesting to read. Especially those with curious choices.

  8. 1. Puyo Puyo 2
    2. Tales of Phantasia
    3. Star Ocean
    4. Yoshi's Island
    5. Rockman and Forte
    6. Shin Megami Tensei
    7. Axelay
    8. Rtype III
    9. Star Fox
    10. Wonder Project J

  9. 1) Yoshi's Island- Best platformer ever IMO

    2) Tetris Attack- Best puzzler ever IMO

    3) Super Metroid

    4) Final Fantasy III (VI)

    4) Star Fox

    5) Super punch Out

    6) Street Fighter II Turbo

    7) Super Mario World

    8) Mortal Kombat II

    9) Castlevania IV

    10) Contra III

Honorable Mention to Street Fighter Alpha 2- how'd they do it?

  10. I played the hell out of these games back in the day...

Super Bomberman 2. My birthdays would consist of multiplayer sleepover madness.

Final Fantasy 3. The first final fantasy I actually played more than one time through. Great stuff.

    Super Metroid. Just plain fun!

Donkey Kong Country 2. I have vivid memories of getting this around Xmas one year and playing it to 100%. Best game in the series.

    Earthbound. DUH! Favorite RPG, EVAR.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles In Time. Spent lots of money on this in the arcades, spent more on it to own it at my house.

Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, same reason I got TMNT

Zelda: LTTP Never actually owned it, but borrowed it from friends a lot, making up for it by buying the GBA port.

Secret of Mana, lots of multiplayer fun here too!

Chrono Trigger: Excellent multi ending RPG. Replay was great!
