Well I was going to walk in here and throw around some names like Sonic Adventure, Super Magnetic Neo, Chu Chu Rocket, and Toy Commander, and Evolution, but then I read what he likes. Uh... Record of Lodoss War? And uh... *draws blank*
A friend of mine is getting his son a DC for Christmas, and I am trying to figure out what games he ought to get to go with it. He does not do much with consoles, although he does have a SEGA Genesis, with stuff like Streets Of Rage II, Phantasy Star IV, the Sonic games, Golden Axe, etc. He is not really into head-to-head fighters like Street Fighter II S.C.E., although he does have that one.
On PC, his tastes run more to Diablo II, TRIBES, Counter-Strike, StarCraft, Unreal Tournament 2003, Angband, etc.
For starters I was thinking perhaps Gauntlet Legends, Zombie's Revenge, Grandia II, and Jet Grind Radio, as well as Crazy Taxi. Perhaps HydroThunder and Rush 2049, as well. I thought about adding Skies Of Arcadia to the list, but I think the frequent random encounters would frustrate him a bit.

Games my nephews enjoy playing are, Crazy Taxi, Ecco, Sonic Adventure 1&2, Jet Grind Radio and Soul Calibur.
Though I would also recomend Rayman 2.... perhaps he might not like it if his tastes skew tword Diablo... whatever. MDK2 might frustrate him, but its worth a go too. Might want to give Silver a go too. Seaman or Shenmue perhaps? I dunno.. for a nine year old he seems to have "diffrent" tastes.

A is for action
I'd recommend he check out Chu Chu Rocket, Test Drive: Le Mans, Record of Lodoss War, Quake III: Arena (assuming he can handle the violence, and I think he can), Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 and Soul Calibur. They cover a fairly broad range of genres, are easy to get into, and are all top notch stuff with plenty of depth and longevity.
Wow! That's just a knock-down, kick-ass, awesome parenting job. I weep for the future.Originally posted by BioMotor_Unitron

Tell your vastly responsible friend to buy his 9-year-old some DC games that DON'T have the big "M" on them. That should do fine.
Owning a DC without owning Soul Calibur is wrong, just simply wrong.
That 9-year old seems to be on the violent side... Kids these days..

Gamertag: Flatline Affair
Seaman is fun for the whole family, really it is!
Yes, Seamen shot out of Sega and the gaming world was happy to swallow it's goodness. Sega certainly had a salty development team working on this game, and they deserve a pearl necklace for their efforts.
