Kyo, your constant mentioning of Dynasty Tactics is finally making me intrigued about this game... I do like tactics/strategy games but I don't know much about DT... I think I am going to look into it.
Yeah, definitely at least rent it. If you like strategy games/military history/gigantic armies beating the crap out of each other, then you should find some enjoyment there. The voice acting is attrocious (although a few of the actors are good), and it's definitely heavier on the strategy than it is on the rpg, but there's so many cool things about it that I'm always uncovering some hidden event or cutscene, and the dozens of possiblities to the branching story keeps you coming back. I think Penny Arcade got something right when they sad it was really a puzzle game, though. I mean, not quite, but the way the combos work really dose feel that way at times.

Here, one more time for the edification of all, is my gushing and lengthy review which pretty much describes everything I could think of about the game:

No wonder it isn't selling well I like to support Koei because they make some of the most innovative games.
Yeah, the only magazine reviewer I saw who got the game (or didn't just diss it for being a strategy game, which is apparently a mortal sin out in Metal Gear Solid land) was in OPM; he gave it 5/5 and called it the best Three Kingdoms game ever.

I have no idea how well it's sold/hasn't sold over here, but in Japan it did quite well; I think it actually outsold both Gamecube Resident Evils, and a sequel is already on the way:

Cool! Let me know what you think of it, or if you have any questions. It takes a while to fully understand the combat system, but once you learn how to use all the different tactics in concert it's deep as hell.

  3. You can find Maximo for sale at most Blockbusters for $10 or less.

  4. Id prefer to buy it new for $16.00 as I have purchased "pre played" games from Blockbuster before and they were scratch city...

    Thanks for replying though.

  5. Im a little broke , so I'll have to delay my purchase to the weekend. It plays like FFT right?

Absolutely nothing like it. In any way. If you go in expecting Ogre Battle or FFT, you won't get what you're after. Read that review I posted, at least the section describing the battle system, which is the real meat of the game.

I can't really compare it to another game, because there's nothing that plays like it. It really is something new.
