Thread: Computer monitor problem.

  1. Computer monitor problem.

For the past week or so, my Dell Trinitron monitor has put a pink hue over everything, and it's annoying as hell. Anyone know of a way I can end this without having to buy a new monitor?

Wiggle the wires, see if the color fades in and out. It's possible that a wire is loose and isn't letting all the colors show- you might find a position where the monitor works fine without actually repairing it.

Just a thought, there's not really a whole lot that you can do with a screwed up monitor.

  3. I've tried wiggling the wires around. I'll try and see if my usual electronics fix of "smack it until it works" will work for this.

Is it near a large magnet, perhaps?

  5. Not that I know of. It's worked fine for about a year incident-free.

    Still have the warranty?

  7. Well, I bought it used at a computer show type thing. I'm not sure if it had a warranty.

  8. Just throwing out random possibilities here -

could it be your video card? Try plugging the monitor up to another comp... you could always pick up a monitor for cheap though, but I know how you'd feel - replacing computer hardware is always an inconvenience.

  9. Yeah, switch your PC/monitor with a friend's monitor/PC. See if it's the videocard.

It's probably the monitor, though. Did you have any large/stereo/old speakers close to it?

  10. I also have a monitor promblem. i recently got a new LCD screen, a NEC 1545 for christmas.. and their is distoration on top, that goes to the right.. looks kind of wiggly. I tried another comp, to see if it was the monitor, but it looked fin.. Could it be my video card?

anyone know of a promgram, to see if their any dead pixas on my screen..
