Thread: Stupid Childhood Gaming Memories

  1. Participating in the Star Fox Super Weekend competition at Hills Department store. And scoring high enough to earn a StarFox T-Shirt and Pin

Also, earning $200 plus by tearing down our swimming pool after it got destroyed by a fire my father had caused. We lived in farm country and he was burning papers or something in an old silo base near our barn. Well it was a windy day and the wind cought the flames and *poof* up went the barn in flames. Rather than paying the insurance company the money to tear down the pool, my parents gave me the money to do it, which I promptly went out and bought an SNES with Zelda and Super Mario World with.

Needless to say, I was in heaven for weeks after that!

    Heck yea, I remember that.

Tables and tables full of clearance Atari games.

  3. In Junior High, two guys in my music class got into an argument that escalated into a fight. As usual, everyone starts screaming "fight, fight, fight", but that's not the good part. The smaller kid jumps at the guy he's fighting from about 7 feet away and throws a dragon punch. Of course, his opponent sidestepped and then proceeded to beat Ryu's ass and all the guys in the class were hysterical with laughter. One of my friends even fell out off his chair from laughing too hard. Perhaps the funniest thing I've ever seen.

Getting up to world 8 in SMB 3 with 72 lives without using any "turtle shell" style tricks or warps. On world 8, I went into my "Mighty Casey" routine and cockily started messing around on the air ships and such. I lost all 72 lives from not playing seriously. I continued and wrecked all of world 8, with 3 lives, as if it had personally insulted me. Damn, I had too much free time back then...

    - Being on the Nintendo Bandwagon, and honestly not understanding why people liked the Sega Genesis.
This one must have been why you said "most" instead of "all".

yeah, and run a towel along the bottom of the door to block any light from creeping out. Not to mention the gameboy made late night gaming very easy.

I remember first seeing SF2 in the arcade and thinking it was the dumbest thing ever. Why would I pay two tokens to fight one guy when I could play Final Fight or Xmen and fight dozens of guys?

This one dude called his Mom when he got to the end of a game my friend and him had been playing.
