It's the best mini-series I've ever seen.
Quite good, and moving, as well.
There is something about seeing an old man, almost 60 years after a war, talking about it and crying that just gets to me.
Can't reccomend it enough.
I'm a World War II nut, of sorts. I love to read about it. I love movies about it. The Longest Day is one of the greatest movies ever made (the reaction of the French man to the Allied invasion is the most beautiful capture of human spirit ever witnessed in film).
Enter, Band of Brothers. I bought the DVD set on Thursday night after renting the first disc Wednesday night. After watching most of the first episode, I knew I'd need to have the set.
So, I've watched the first two episodes so far. Wow. I've never felt this jittery while watching a movie before. War as it is, is captured perfectly. From the quick pace of the trenches to the short amount of time one can stop to feel for the dead. The fact that they didn't get over dramatic was amazing and for that, I'm thankful. This is war, war is hell. War gives you no time to cry for a dead man, you have to move on and get your job done.
Stunning, to say the least.

I've been meaning to rent this series. My house doesn't receive HBO or Showtime so I miss out on shows like Oz and Band of Brothers. I'm curios if they handled the battle scenes the same way they did in Private Ryan. Was sort of a hand held camera documentary style?
From what I remember, yes.
I too can not reccommend this series enough. Amazing piece of work.
Not really. Some is like that, but on the whole, it's an amazingly well shot, and a fantastic transfered DVD.Originally posted by Superstition

Go rent Disc 1 (with episode 1 and 2) and see if you like it.
It's well worth it
How much is the DVD set? Was it directed by Speilberg?
