Thread: Random PSX imports I picked up...

  1. Yeah, I stopped by Wanpaku last week and saw that sale too. I spent at least 15 minutes going over the racks and just couldn't bring myself to buy anything. I would have bought Strider 1 & 2 for ~$18, but I had just picked up the domestic version from HyperGameAction on the way there. They did have a copy of Gacharoku for PS2 for a decent price, though not on sale, so I ended up leaving with that.

  2. i'm the (aforementioned) frined that went to wanpaku with bent.

poor bent didn't seem too thrilled. the selection was not good. the friend who told me about the sale had gone on 27th dec and we didn't get there till 4th jan, so as you can imagine it was somewhat picked over. moreover they failed to locate some of the games i picked out -- D and moon (i should've rung up first!) and ... (giggle) toshinden 3.

i picked up about $85 worth of games.

clocking in at $20 and as the most expensive purchase was a brand new copy of magical vacation for GBA.

for $15 each, i got used copies of doubutsu banchou (GC -- japanese version of cubivore) and gundam zeonic front (PS2, import).

then for cheap prices i got:

tear ring saga (PS import SRPG, nintendo sued enterbrain and the developer tirnanog over its likeness to fire emblem, very nice)

floating runner (PS) (been wanting to re-check this out in the modern age, just to see how bad it is now, as it was fairly bad then)

motor toon grand prix USA edition (this is MTGP2, but based on the US version. it was hella cheap, but then i noticed it had no book >_<) i was very jealous that ben got the only copy of MTGP1. i used to enjoy that game back in the day. c'est la vie.

last gladiators for saturn -- find of the day @ 99 cents

seems to me that there was something else. i need to mess around with these and maybe post back to this thread if it hasn't died by then. =)

  3. Played some more Motor Toon last night, and it's beginning to grow on me. It's by no means a masterpiece, but surprisingly solid and even polished considering its "zero generation" status.

One thing I kind of like is that there are no goals to worry about other than getting fast lap times. In lieu of a loading screen (the loading is extremely fast, btw) the game shows the top 10 times for each course, and then you see the same thing afterwards. Getting on that board is all that matters. There's not even a full-fledged Grand Prix mode... only single races, with or without CPU competitors. It's simple and refreshing.

I really should track down the US version of MTGP2 now.

I sent you an e-mail through the board and I knew something would go wrong. Let me send you a PM.
