Thread: Panzer Dragoon Saga Sequel

  1. Panzer Dragoon Saga Sequel

I saw this on another videogame forum:

Quote from EGM Feb 2003 Issue, page 157:

As Smilebit's Takayuki Kawagoe once told us, "We have a plan for the sequel to Panzer Dragoon Saga, but whether it happens depends on how people respond to Orta."

  2. #2
I seriously hope there is one. I love the Panzer Dragoon shooters but Saga was an even greater experience for me. Saga had potential to be the best RPG ever and only slightly missed the mark by being too short and too linear. A sequel could take care of these problems.

  3. All you fence riders, go buy Orta next week or, or... aww I got nothin'......

    Just buy Orta, fuckers!

    Okay, that works.

  4. Maybe they should make a sequel based on how people responded to Panzer Dragoon Saga, not fucking Orta. They're two different types of games, so Smilebit's logic makes no sense. If Nintendo makes a new Mario puzzle game that fails horribly and sells ten copies, that doesn't mean there won't be anymore Mario platformers.

Also, the original development team the created Panzer Dragoon Saga has long been split up and scattered across various other development teams at Sega.

  5. I'm buying 10 Ortas.

Maybe since Smilebit is the team currently responsible for handling the Panzer games, maybe their ability to produce yet another Panzer game depends on how Orta sells, jackass, and not how a limited run of Saga did over 5 years ago. Sega essentially pressured Smilebit to ressurect the Panzer franchise (their words, paraphrased, not mine) after Jet Set Radio/Future sold, like, 42 copies worldwide. Oh, and Gunvalkyrie? Nineteen copies.

And of the 16 or so Team Andromeda members, 10 of them currently reside at Smilebit, while a few others are at other Sega teams, primarily United Game Artists. The artist responsible for the first three Panzer games's visuals is now at Artoon, working on Blinx of all things.

So enough with your crap, cheapass excuses. Buy the game.

  7. I am sure that Orta will do well so hopefully we will see PDS2.

I'm still on the fence about purchasing Orta, mainly because every Sega game on Xbox has been horribly disappointing and the demo didn't impress me all that much. Also, the reviews haven't been all that spectacular. How's that for a cheapass excuse?

I'm not going to buy a game that doesn't appeal to me hoping that it'll convince Sega to greenlight the development of a pseudo-related game that I do want. Anyone who does that is buying Orta for all the wrong reasons.

Boo! You need a new spirit.

  10. Considering Sega's track record with consistent flops, sales wise, on the XBox, there's no chance in hell PDS2 will see the light of day. Face it people, Orta (regardless how great I may think it is) will not do well.
