If it is a remake, it's obvious which one it will be, and I would be very happy to have a portable version of Mario 3.
I couldn't find this topic covered anywhere, if it has been Oh well.
This news is covered on Gamespot:
Evidently Nintendo is working on Super Mario Advance 4 for the GBA.
However, in typical Nintendo fashion, they did not reveal if this is nothing more than a remake of an older Mario game, or a completely new version. Also, when asked if Miyamoto was working on the project, again Nintendo went silent.
If this isn't a new Mario game, then I really couldn't care less.
If it is a new game, count me in.

In all likelihood it is going to be port, seeing as how that is what the Advance series has been about.
Though I'm still holding out hope for a completely new game.
I wouldnt mind if it was 3. 3 was good and wouldmake a good addition to the mario series on the GBA.
The only problem is that everybody and their dog already owns 3 twice on the NES and SNES. And if by some odd chance there is somebody out there that owns a rabbit or something that is jealous of their dog's copy, that rabbit can go to any GameStop and buy a SMB3 for $0.03 and the NES to play it on for not much more. If the rabbit feels that he's missing out on the "enhancements" of the GBA port he can hire a 5 year old to stand in the room and randomly squeal and shout "ya hoo" every 2 seconds. I say enought with the ports.Originally posted by DarkCrow676

Except not everybody owns it, especially a large demographic of the GBA userbase which are younger kids.Originally posted by Chibi Nappa

People also don't want to be bothered with going to buy an NES (or snes) and a copy of the game. These same people don't want to be hassled with hooking up yet another video game system to play said game.
Some people like Mario alot and they already own the original game too. But these people like to play it on the go, because the GBA is a portable system after all.
Huzzah.
