Thread: Gaming Anger

  1. Well I get angry at games all the time. But I never attack things in my room. I used to always slap the floor/bed/chair really hard with my hands. And then I started to pound on my knees/thighs with my fists. And now I just smack my self in the forehead a few times. I am sure pretty soon I will be stabbing my self with knives or something.

I also argue with the Television like Football Coachs argue with Refs. I point at the TV and yell things like, "Oh you got to be kidding me! Thats so damn cheap! Just plain retarded!"

My brother one time when playing Super Mario World was getting really frustrated at something, and took the SNES controller and pitched it into the stairs like Nolan Ryan. The controllers was fine, Nintendo makes strong stuff in my experiance. Now that I think about it my brother threw the controllers a lot in the old NES/SNES days.

Things I see a lot in Arcades is when people lose they slam the stick in a direction as hard as possiable, that can't be good for the sticks.
    Barf! Barf! Barf!

My girlfriend was on the computer at the time and took no notice of it, until I returned with a baseball bat and summarily SMASHED THE STICK TO PIECES, UNLEASHING THE PUREST OF HUMAN EMOTIONS--RAGE--UPON IT. I scared the hell out of my girlfriend, who watched as this all went down. I followed up by spitting on the remnants of the stick. Now thats video game anger.

I can so picture you doing that... but as for me, back in the day of Mortal Kombat I was up late playing the genny with my friend brett and he kept doing that Kano, curl in a ball and fly at you move and I would ALWAYS get hit by it..so after a match of him just doing that one move I yelled "fuck you" and punched him in the stomach. lol...I haven't talked ot him in a LONG time.
    What isn't remembered, Never happened

  3. Around 3rd grade, I was over at my buddy's house playing Top Gun for NES during a sleepover. My friend was pretty good at the game and was on the last level, the space station boss on the moon (how ridiculous to fly an F-16 Tomcat to the moon in retrospect).

We had gotten to that boss like three times and died after lengthy battles everytime. This time, I believe he got hit by a missle just as the station was exploding! The boss was dying, the game was over and he was robbed of his hard-fought victory!

He ripped the cartridge out of the NES and calmly walked downstairs to the garage, then grabbed a hammer and smashed it to smithereens on the floor. I watched in awe as he swept the pieces into a brown paper lunch bag, which we then took to the front driveway and set on fire. We danced around the flames until it flickered out, then tossed the charred remains into the trash can outside.

His parents never woke up or found out, and he claimed he lost the game or something... His folks actually bought him a new one!

-Oh yeah, I had my own bout of NES rage when a friend and I lost to the last boss of Legendary Wings. I slammed my fist directly on top of the NES, cracking the little flip-top plastic door in half and putting a big fault-line in the top of the system.

But it always worked fine in spite of the abuse...

  4. I feel GameHED's pain

I remember that rail level GameHED. Were you trying that on Hard? I did that on Hard and it took so long to get that Gold. Ever get it? And how long did it take you?

  5. Funny this topic should come up, since I just beat Stuntman earlier this week.

I got plenty frustrated while playing that game, but I'm happy to say that no controllers were harmed. I shout and curse a blue streak when playing difficult games, but I never destroy controllers or other video game paraphernalia. It's just not worth the expense.

  6. Sakura in Alpha 3 is a bitch. I usually don't get that angry though.
Well that's like, your opinion, man.

  7. I've already listed my two destroyed PS' and broken GG in other threads of similar nature. But I broke a PS2 controller recently thanks to GGXX and that absolutely horrible GOLD EX HEALING DIZZY WITH INFINITE SUPERS WHO IS INVINCIBLE TO MY SUPERS AND I CAN'T FUCKING JUMP.

So I now have a perfectly functional PS2 controller aside from the R2 button cover missing and the right handle is no longer one connected piece. It doesn't look very pretty and makes playing a couple games a bit more difficult.

[edit] I'm also certain that if you grip the PS2 controller tight enough and twist, it can be broken in half. At least, it certainly strains enough when I do that, but the thought of a $30 controller usually halts my rage from going too far.

Thanks for the warning, cuz now I'll be on the lookout for that. Justice kicked me arse, too. I've seen that he loves that Infinite Super Meter too much.

Yep. I got all golds in all other levels except that one. Until of course the cheat code become unlocked that quadruple the rate of fire so you can fire more bullets at a time. I beleive that if a game is no longer giving you fun and you've reached the plateu and you just want to see what happens after you get everything, the only other option is to succumb to the temptation to use the cheat code given within the game to help you. (this is not true for a game that I think is balanced and fair though. Games like that do give way once you're skills improve.)

But in the case of this part of the game, you just can't control which direction the bullet will travel because it is random and never truly aims where the cross hair is placed. So really what's the point? You just got to be lucky a bullet will hit something based on the randomness of the gun.

    Another moment I remember:

Darkstalkers 1 boss on ps1. For some reason the last boss is uber cheap, uber powerful and and uber damaging, and combos like a madman while each move has instant start up and recovery time, never leaving him vulnerable to anything... and that's on normal. Way worse than gill from the sf3 games imo. At least gill has openings and you can poke and force him into doing the wrong move so you can counter with another one while he is recovering. The darkstalkers 1 boss is one of the hardest bosses I've fought.

Yes, that was Pyron in his heyday

Another moment for me, is playing Splinter Cell. Tell me why I'm 4 feet aways from an enemy soldier, and still missing when I try to shoot him? It's happened ( and gotten me killed ) many MANY times.
