Sorry, but sales from 10 years ago don't count. Sonic had to be put on the GC to get any real sales numbers in this century.

  2. Actually, Sonic Adventure 2 sold quite well on the DC, Nigel.

  3. I'm guessing any football or basketball game that doesn't say "Sega" on the cover would sell pretty well...

  4. I think the only criteria is that it has to be

    1) Mindless
    2) Look good

That just about sums up all the popular games I can think of.
As I said before, I think only the THPS series deserves its praise. Some of the "real 3d platformers" can learn a thing or two from its level design.

  5. 1. Explosions
    2. Downgraded Gameplay
    3. Downgraded gameplay power put into enhancing graphics
    4. Hype.

That's the easy way to get a decent seller, for the most part. Here's the best way:

    1. Have it fresh, do something and do it well.
    2. The gameplay has to have an element of challenge without frustration
    3. Graphics have to be standards, minimum.
    4. A strong story can, in itself, sell a game well. It makes people want to persist further into a game. The original RE was dripping with this, DRIPPINGLY DRIPPINGNESS!!! Although RE was a decent game for its time.

BTW, alot of Sega jokes in here. hehe
