I remember some moments.

The hype FF7 got in the tavern several days, months before its U.S release.

When some idiot somehow got Ops took over the channel and banned everyone (i think) for a couple of days.

When the server went down and we all scrambled to try and find each other, creating several taverns on different irc servers.

thats all i can think of, man do I have bad memory.

I've had my past with this place. I really kinda stopped chatting as much as i did after the "racy" era. Every now and then you'll see my type out something. I only let a few select people know me. For the people that always wondered what my name was..well it means "Someone" in another language i'll tell you that much. Its really late and i'am cashed right now.

Oh, yeah, without the Tavern I'd never have owned a Neo Geo Pocket Color. And that car ride with Lawd back from E3... It would've been way different, because we were playing with JoKu's old NGPC. Taverness all over the place.

JoKu, you're my hero, the only Taverner with whom I've talked on the phone (phone-computer, remember dat?!), other than my friends and family. And I think you're the only one in the Tavern that has pictures to best my E3 pics (save other E3 goers who can rival mine - but can't beat "ooh, boobies" looks I gave). Whatta guy.

Wow, has it been 5 years already?

I first discovered the Tavern in 1998, when I was 17. I was going through a lot of personal turmoil at that time, and I just needed something to occupy my mind.

I never thought that I would make friends there that would remain some 4 or 5 years later.

I remember many things from the past. I remember working for PSi and TNL. I remember the great war between the two sites. I remember trying to start a music webzine with a couple of other guys, although that ended up flopping around like a limp dick in the wind.

I remember some of the glorious campaigns of our past, like the infamous Tavern/SquareGamer battle over FF8, where we protected our territory from blind FF8 worshippers. I remember the epic struggles against people like KoRny and Woody. I remember repelling the 5000 chatters that came onto me because they thought I was a girl, then finding out that damn near everyone in the Tavern thought I was a girl.

I still remember the war where the Tavern split and was put back together, but I'd rather not go into that. I still remember my great exile from the Tavern (although that was due more to personal reasons than anything else).

I remember losing hours of sleep to voicechat and regular chat. I remember....a lot of things.

Although I don't always have time or method to get online at the Tavern anymore, I'm suprised that it still stands and that not everyehting has fallen apart. It's also nice that, for everything that's changed in my life lately, I can still go back to that one place.

I'd address everyone individually, but that would take up waaaaaaay too much space and time. I''l just leave it with a great big "Cheers!" to those that deserve it (they know who they are), a great big "Fuck You!" to those that deserve it (they know who they are too, I'm sure), and the sign of the horns to everyone else.

I often joke that I'm suprised that no one has forgotten me, but ion truth, I don't think I could ever forget any of you guys. You've made my life one hell of a lot more interesting than it would have been otherwise.
