Thread: I die within your reach, or, that last boss is a tough bastard!

  1. #31
Perfect Dark never could land a hit on the final boss, and eventually traded the game in.

  2. It took me 4 years of regular playtime to beat Saishu and Rugal in King of Fighters '95. SNK put the Devil in that game.

For a while now the final boss in Shinobi has made certain I don't get to play the main game again (I've allready forgotten what the rest of the game looks like ). Also, I had a bad habit of quiting on a rpg when I got to the last dungeon or boss and never getting back to the game before I sold it. I got to the last boss in Vagrant Story and quit, I got to the last dungeon in Xenogears and didn't go any farther, and I did the same for first Lunar game on PS1. When I had the resolve to beat Lunar 2, I saved in the last dungeon and didn't have enough stats and items to possibly beat the last boss. FF3, probably my favorite rpg of all time remains unconquered even though I rented it all the time on Snes and bought the PS1 vesion (which I brought back fast). One day Kefka will fall before me, but not untill I beat that cheap ass Shinobi boss
The easiest way to beat Guildenstern in Vagrant Story is to make sure you have the Phantom Pain skill, and that you have 8 weapons with full phantom points. His first form is easy, his second form is what the phantom points are for. If you have it, cast Magic ward, and when he uses a spell, more than likely after its done, he'll move closer so you can hit him. Hit him with Phantom Pain from one of your weapons and repeat the process over until he's dead. It helps if your weapons have over 100 phantom points.

What was so hard about the Jaquio? When he throws his fire, position yourself so that you are in the middle of the two balls and they'll go right by you. Some times they'll come back from off screen, but there ain't shit you can do about that. Also, for those of you that haven't done it, destroy the demon statue's tail, then its head to get to its heart.

Ughhhh not good. That damn Ultimate Break attack is so unfair! 13,000 damage!?!? Ludicrious!

I played a few times and didn't even get up to him on a few tries. I had a good run going once and was fighting the last orb but Seibzehn died and at that point I was screwed. I was pretty sure I had a good shot of beating him that time too. Ah well.

    I'll beat you Deus...I will...
Well that's like, your opinion, man.

I never did beat Lavos thanks to Omnigear telling me to kill Magus (wrong game before ) ... I'm going to attempt CT in 1 sitting next week though, since I don't have school til 2/3. Also, FF4 gave me trouble somewhere towards the very end, but I don't remember any of it because it's been so long since I've attempted to beat it.
Finally, FFT had this really hard boss that had me trying for days, but I eventually beat him.

My first time through I took Deus head-on without destroying any spheres and won.

My second time I decided to drop a couple spheres first and found the battle much easier. He's a pain but I didn't find him that hard, nor the final dungeon. I never quite got the frustration so many had with it.

Happened to me in SFA. I can't beat Andross to the laughter of my friends. I didn't find Kefka too hard, I've beaten him time and time again. It's all about structuring your 3 groups. I found the first battle to be the hardest, the second to be hard, but moderately so. Just watch the multiple targets and the last to be hard, but if you plan your 3rd team to be key and train all of your party members so none of them slack, it's excellent.

It also helps to have alot of good throwing materials and have Shadow in the 2nd or 1st grouping with Cyan. I always placed Edgar and Sabin in the third with Celes and Yumaro (whatever the sasquatches name is, I can't remember).

    Ahh, memories.

I should probably add something a bit more on-topic, so I'll toss out FFIX. I beat that bastard eventually, but it was a blemish at the end of an otherwise wonderful FF. It seemed like Square wasn't really sure that Kuja would make a decent last boss, so they went ahead and ripped off attacks from final bosses from FFVI-FFVIII and throw out an excuse for some random POS to come out and whoop your ass. There wasn't a whole lot of reason or rhyme to it, it was just there. Insanely powerful and highly-annoying (Cross Break was the attack that would always destroy my party, if I remember right), the game would have been better off without him.

His name is Magus, and I didn't tell you to kill him! Well, maybe I did, but I didn't know what I was talking about! I had totally forgotten any repercussions that that would have had! Having Magus wouldn't have made a difference anyway. Your ass is grass regardless.

    What level were you at?

I got so close to beating him, I honestly did, and then he whips out that stupid Ultimate Break move. I survived it once and didn't expect him to do it again, and I had like 12,000 HP and thought I was safe for a little while, but NO, he has to be an asshole and do that fucking move again, and it just happens to do 13,000 damage. Fucking bastard!

I never had any problems beating Kefka...I consider the end of FF6 to be the easiest in almost all of RPGdom. Kefka might manage to kill off one person out of my original group of 4.

It is worth noting, that although I don't level up in the game, I always spend lots of quality time in Kefka's tower learning magic. By the time I beat the game, at least 5 characters know Ultima. And one of them has a Gem Box and Economizer.
