Until I get a chance to play Burnout 2, I'm going to have to with the original for the title of "best PS2 racing game."

yes. i think the SOCOM headset should be an unnofficial Live type headset and be sold seperate and everygame could then have voice....but then they're still trying to cater to the dial-up users still and full on voice chat doesnt work to well that way.Originally posted by Melf
No trash talking in ATV or Twisted Metal Black? Is SOCOM the only online PS2 game where you can actually communicate with other players?
You know, I hear a ton of praise for this game, but I don't care for it at all. It's like EA took Ridge Racer, removed all the depth and skill, tossed in their brother in law's industrial-grunge garage band, and said "hey look everyone, licensed cars! Buy it now!" It's just so basic. What's the appeal?Originally posted by Yoshi
Best PS2 racer = Hot Pursuit 2.
I'll take GT3, EA's F-1, RRV or Colin McRae over any of the games mentioned in this thread so far.
That's another one I don't get. Now mind you, my total exposure to the series has been the bried OPM demo of 2, but I didn't see anything extremely exciting there (heck, I even thought Rallisport had cooler crashes).Originally posted by MechDeus
You misspelled "Burnout." But you did get the "2" right.

I'm still amazed at how Gran Turismo 3 is aging. I was playing it this weekend with one of my friends and we never let a replay go by. It's one of those games that will probably never be considered bad looking. It's still pretty nuts.

I think that it's definitely an amazing game. I've been doing the online play and I think it's pretty cool how you can race up to 4 people at the same time. And the mini games are pretty fun. When I first got the game I was a little slow to pick up how to play. It has an elaborate control method and until I leared how to preload my jumps I was out of it. After a few races I was hooked.
No its not even close to being the best Racing game on the PS2. Burnout 2, Burnout, and RR5 are the best Racing games on the PS2.
