Thread: any msties out there?

  1. For those with actual money, you can buy some of the older ones on DVD now from Rhino home video. They're cheap and most include the unMSTed version of the movie. These are all re-releases of the tapes they've already put out though.

I wish someone would explain to me the mysteries of this kazaa thing because there's a big chunk of episodes I haven't seen, though I have most of the sci-fi ones on tape.

My fav from the sci-fi ones is definitely Prince of Space, a messed up black and white Japanese movie starring a shoe shine guy vs the chicken men of crankwhore.. or something like that. The Neptune Men is a sort of follow up and hilarious as well, especially when they all completely lose it at the end, screaming in terrible pain.

There's an industrial arts short at the beginning of Skydivers on the newest DVD set that just has to be seen though. If you do not laugh until tears come to your eyes after seeing it, you have no sense of humor. "I like to sneak in and lay on the table saw."
"I've watched while the maggots have defiled the earth. They have
built their castles and had their wars. I cannot stand by idly any longer." - Otogi 2

  2. Simple. Kazaa is a site that allows you to swap files with others. It costs about $1.60 and you can download as much as you can handle. And it's not just audio files it's video files also. I download mst3k, family guy, sifl and olly, mission hill, titus, live concerts, hard to find covers and limited release songs by punk bands. It's great. Just go to Kazaa.com, start an account,(you need a credit card), and start downloading.
"I don't like fellas that kill me. Not in general."

  3. In the not-too-distant future
    Next Sunday, A.D.
There was a guy named Joel
Not too different from you or me

    He worked at Gizmonics Institute
Just another face in a red jump suit
Then one day he's cleaning up the place
but his bosses didn't like him so they shot him into space!

    We''ll send him cheesy movies,
the worst we can find (la la la)
He'll have to sit and watch them all
    The monitor is mine

Now keep in mind Joel can't control
where the movies begin or end
Because he used those special parts
    To make his robot friends

    ROBOT ROLL-CALL
    Cambot (pan left)
    Gypsy (hi girl)
    Tom Servo (what a fall-guy)
    CROOOOOOOOOOW (what a wise cracker)

Now you're wondering how Joel eats and breathes
And other science facts (la la la)
Just repeat to yourself it's just a show
    I should really just relax

    For Mystery Science Theater 3000!

All from memory, baby! I love MST3K! It kinda sucked after Joel left, but I watched it just the same.

My favorite ep? "Wakka-chikka, wakka-chikka, wakka-chikka, wakka-chikka...MASTER NINJA THEME SONG!!!"

  4. Man or Astroman? is this great sci-fi surf punk (mostly)instrumental band and they cover that song. Their whole schtick is MST3K inspired, they sample movies like Leach Woman and have titles like "Gigantor's Last Stand". Their live album, Live Transmission From Uranus has some blazing guitar.
    pwned by Ivan

  5. Man or Astroman also did the music for Space Ghost Coast 2 Coast and I think maybe Cartoon Planet.
    o_O

  6. I'm from Minnesota, home of MST3K. ... of course I love the show! However, I felt Mike ruined it and I never watched any entire episode hosted by him. His "humor" had no timing, the stupid fill-ins for the original scientists sucked; without Joel on the writing staff, it all fell apart.

However, an interesting note: Mike was on the show from the early days as a material writer.
bastard of the new world order.

  7. I love MST3K. It's a work of genius.

There truly is something for everyone to laugh at, and watching some of the films is a real treat.

    Some of my favorites -

Blood Waters of Dr Z (The scene with the "dune buggy" is classic)
Mitchell (Want some butter with that coffee?)
Pod People (Just hilarious all the way through)
    Backloggery
    GameTZ

Go home and be a family man.

  8. Manos: The Hands of Fate greatest MST3k moment ever. Anything that can make the bots cry has gotta be hardcore suck.

  9. I'm also a big fan of MST3K and reciently downloaded my favorite Episode off of Kazaa lite. That being the Hobgoblins episode. I was always a bigger fan of Mike over Joel, but Joel still shines. I need to download more episodes but my GOD was that a slow download. Hobgoblins took me four days to get. Shit...

"It's the eiiighties do a lot of coke and vote for Ronald Reagaaan"

  10. They need to start releasing it on DVD in boxed sets!
