Thread: Alternative Internet Browsers

  1. Alternative Internet Browsers

Okay, I'm thinking about leaving IE behind for good, but I know nothing about the alternatives. So this is where you come in and start listing the pros and cons of the other browsers out there, and don't forget to add links.

  2. I can't help you with PC browsers, but if there are any Mac users here I suggest downloading Apple's Safari browser. It is an amazing program and it's still in beta form. I'm glad that Apple is moving away from Microsoft with OSX. No more need for Internet Explorer, Outlook, Powerpoint, or Office.

  3. Well, I used to use Opera exclusively. From what I remember, it was pretty good. It seemed stable, more like IE than Netscape in terms of interface. The only problem with it was that it didn't seem to be as robust as the main players.
bastard of the new world order.

  4. I use Opera and love it. It's certainly much better than IE, but I haven't used any of the other alternatives so I can't really offer a comparison.

  5. I've heard Mozilla is great. But I haven't gotten around to trying it myself.

Pheonix is my favorite browser by far. It's a Mozilla build in beta, with added features. It uses much less RAM than IE, it has tabbed browsing (TABBED BROWSING!!), and it just plain rocks. The shortcuts are a great addition and will likely be used when using Pheonix, because they get a small tab on a bar up top, easily accesible, but not annoying. Anyways, I forget the other good stuff. (grr)
I've encountered a few cons, but they'r there. Like some HTML doesn't work, as well as some flash videos. But you can just use IE if you need to look at that.
Anyways, you can get it at www.mozilla.org under Pheonix

(And don't forget the built in ad killer that is included in most of these browsers)

  8. Mozilla's been the best for me. Opera rocks but normally comes with that ad bar across the top (at least it did back when I used it, might've changed by now), but I toss another vote for the Mozilla.

    Never used Phoenix.

    Pheonix tops Mozilla! grr
It takes Mozilla, adds cool stuff, and makes Pheonix.

  10. I use mozilla and prefer it over phoneix because it is a more full-featured package. If you just want a web browser, phoneix is good for the pc. There also other gecko (the html redering engine for mozilla) browsers which are probably good but I have never tried myself.
