Thread: The Simpsons

  1. It's too bad they cancelled Family Guy. The Simpsons need to be put out of their misery, and FG was basically the only show that really could have taken it's place.

Basically, my hate for the Simpsons' unfounded success these past few seasons grows with every "The Simpsons go to (insert continent here)" and Sideshow Bob reappearance.

To expand on that Sideshow Bob note, it was established in '97's "Brother from Another Series" that he was no longer a murderous madman... yet there have been two Bob episodes in the past two seasons, both of which he appears as... a murderous madman. And not even a classy one, like he was before.

  2. Hmm let's see, favorites...my favorite is probably Itchy and Scratchy Land. Everything was just perfect in this one, and taking the Simpsons on vacation was a great change of pace. And Pin-Itchy-O...goddammit that was funny as hell...I must've watched those few seconds over and over.

I also really like the angel episode, I loved the actual serious tone and questions about faith that the show raised. Frank Grimes was another great one.

Favorite line has gotta be Homer meeting Hugh's parents: "You know what's great about you English? Octopussy. Man, I must've seen that movie...twice." Just think about the comedy genius of that line for a moment.

Worst episode goes to the N-Sync/Boy Band one. Not only did they have the same people they were lampooning guest star, the whole boy band schtick was old, the plot was ridiculous, and it had really outdated references (close with the Matrix? please). For a show that was once on the cutting edge of social satire, it was unbearably bad.

And that pretty much sums up what's wrong with the last few seasons (although there have been a few good eps, like the one two weeks ago. oddly enough, I can't recall what it was about...only that it was good). Recycled jokes (Homer gets hurt, there's a NEW Mexico) and generally nothing important to say anymore. Oh and the lame endings. It was all over with that XMas episode where at the end, their house gets looted and next week, it was like nothing happened. OK guys.

If CN picks up Family Guy, it may be my favorite channel.
Teletoon out of Canada has FG. Mon-Thurs at 9. Its very easy to *ahem* obtain Expressvu (Canadian DBS) service in the US.

Plus with all the freaky time-zones in Canada I can watch the new sunday night simpsons episode at 5:30pm.

  4. I thought it was a proven fact that the worst episode was the one where the "real" Skinner came back.

Not even close. That episode is quite good actually.
Well that's like, your opinion, man.

  6. So, if the show is bad now, do you still watch it, because I still do for entertainment.

  7. I used to watch religiously, and now I don't care if I miss an episode. Come to thinkn of it, I havn't seen a new episode in a few weeks. I don't even tune in for the weekday afternoon showings that much either. I always watch Futurama when it's on now.
