I can't speak to 4, but personally.

I thought 2 was amazing, and 3 was shite. That's why I have not bought 4, and won't until I can get it on the cheap. Just as I will not buy GTA Next or whatever day one, and wait a bit.

I find 2.7 million units sold in a month (for Sony) to be a stagger amount...still! And it keeps pulling in numbers like that month after month.

Eh shouldnt be too surprising. TH4 was the fourth fucking Tony Hawk game in the past four years; we are seriously talking about a Tomb Raider level of frequency. Granted Tony Hawk isn't as stale or as blatantly goddawful as Tomb Raider, but people are fickle.

I cant believe Activision did this, they did exactly what Eidos did and are getting hurt in exactly the same way. Now nobody gives a fuck about any new Tony Hawks.

I keep hearing this, and it makes no sense to me. 3 introduced next gen graphics, online play and the revert move. 4 introduced...not having any time limits. As near as I can tell, 4 is the best one to own, but the additions to the actual game are basically nonexistant and there's no reason to buy it over 3 which is half the price.

But either way, 3 is a better playing game than 1 or 2.

And I think Neversoft said they're takinga year off with Tony. As I said in another thread, they should probably take two.

THPS: Cool.
THPS2: Best level design, manual, best soundtrack, best one ever.
THPS3: Unispired level Design (aka lame), poo soundtrack, nothing amazing beyond that.
THPS4: Never seen or played, will when it's cheap, it might redeem the series or doom it for me.

I would remind that you that THPS2 was on the DC. That's next gen, fool!

Halo's sales are pretty impressive, now, too...I'm amazed that it's still selling like that, almost like a Mario 64 for Xbox, now (Mario 64 kept selling well for years after release).

How can you hate the soundtrack? All videogames need Del Tha Funky Homosapien telling people to brush their teeth and wash their ass, and KRS-One informing me that my do-rag doesn't make me a real thug, and that I never met Tupac or Big Pun. But yeah, Rage Against the Machine is cooler.

But I seriously can't play THPS 2 anymore - the gameplay feels too loose to me, and no revert move = teh wackz0rz.

It's THPS 3 with bigger levels and more involved online (on PS2, anyway) and 1 player modes.

Agreed. I can't go back to THPS 2 after playing 3, even though I loved it when it was released. And I liked the soundtrack and level design in THPS 3 (Foundry is probably my favorite level in the series). I'm waiting for THPS 4 to become a greatest hit before I pick it up.
