True, but I'm sure you know a lot of that is sour grapes. Most would kill to do your job, and that's their loss and all. F them and enjoy it.

More of the same on DMC2 eh? Did they at least tweak the camera at all? I hated DMC's camera.

  2. Nice thread, Matt.

I used to dislike you severly. But that seems to be going away with every post. Keep this up and I'll have to ask you to marry me.

Bah, I had a feeling it would turn out that way. I guess I'll give it a rent first instead of potentially wasting $50.

Ahh, that far makes up for a lackluster DMC2. Good news indeed!
Well that's like, your opinion, man.

  4. Yes, sometimes I'm a dick...and sometimes I'm really a dick. Hah! Thanks.

  5. Sounds like any other job really, except for the perks and the fact that you play video games and get paid for it.

But the very fact that you're the bitch of whatever company you get press/info from hits close enough to home for me to understand what the job is like.

  6. okay im retarded....where does thray work?

  7. I'm just curious if there were any well-known rivalries between certain magazines. I seem to remember in the Ed Zone reading a couple mentions of magazines trash talking GF, but I never really looked to much into it. I'm guessing there was always professional courtesy between mags, but did any interesting interactions ever happen at E3 or PR trips?

As always, thanks for the insight. Although I've never had the urge to work in the industry of one of my favorite hobbies, I'm really interested in how it all works.

My only regret, is not taking that damn January 2001 Issue with me.
Gamefan review PSO or MSR in that issue?

  9. Matt: Heh. I wish I got more of those "free" trips, Midway's Gamers Day event in Vegas was very fun. Of course, I know you experienced 3x that volume of perks. Good post - would've made a great editiorial

  10. This is the sort of post that I wade through all of the "Who's better, Mario or Sonic?" and "Xbox Outsells Gamecube 3 to 1 in Bolivia!" stuff for. Great stuff there, Mr. Van Stone.

Now, if only you can tell me how an exceptional writer with no degree can snip the barbed wire and sneak over to the other side. You know, the one that pays real money.

You can always reach me on AIM as AFXofHeavens if you'd prefer to keep it a secret.
