like today i tried to convince one guy not to get DOAXBV and get Beach Spikers instead (he wanted a good Vball game) ofcourse he didnt listen and 3 hours later he came back and i had to do the return and then he got Beach Spikers
I understand that, but it was gamestop. If they thought the game was that bad, they shouldn't have bought the game back in the first place. Atleast take it off the shelves and hide it or something. It just seems silly to offer something for sale, then refuse to sell it.

  2. 058-Whenever I tell them that we don't have something, they will ask if it might be in the back room, as if it is somehow advantageous for me to hold out on them, or if it's only available to those with the gumption to ask.
This isn't always the customer's fault. You have no idea how many times I've gone into EB or Gamestop and only got the guide, game, lightgun, accessory I needed because I asked the clerk to check in the back. Many employees are too damn lazy to restock shelves or are even holding items for friends or themsleves. Then when you ask them to check they look at you like you just asked for a blowjob or something.

  3. 85(?): Customers that are rude, obnoxious, and wrong always get their way if they scream loud enough. Customers that have been treated rudely, obnoxiously, and have been patently wronged get the run around.

Fair enough, but even if the employee was too lazy, wouldn't they *know* it was back there, waiting to be restocked? Likewise, if I was holding something for a friend or myself, I wouldn't give it to them just because they asked for it (I'm not saying I do that, but, such would be the case if I did).

In any event, even if the game *is* back there, I would know it, and mention it to the customer if it's available for them to buy...as it is, we are always selling things before they're officially in the inventory (like, when new stuff comes in), just so the customer doesn't have to come back later.

    What?

  7. Not necessarily.

This past Christmas, for example, clerks at my local EB didn't know what the hell they were doing. One told a woman they were out of GBA Kirby when he had a copy on the counter behind him. Another sold a gutted (that term fits so well) copy of Shenmue 2 and answered the buyer's complaint by saying there were no more sealed copies (there were, in fact, three in the cabinet above him).

I find that most do actually know if they have an item asked for or not. They're just too damn lazy to actually go and check or get one. It's so much easier to just say "sorry, we're out," and dismiss the customer.

I don't really work that much there...I think I just have an especially low threshold for nonsense.

Well, that's some pretty shitty customer service. We need every sale we can get, so, I try my best to please the customer. I don't think most EB or GS employees care too much about anything, since they're not on commission, and that don't have to worry about the store's reputation or net income. -and we want repeat business, too, so we really go out of our way...sometimes I feel like customer's really go out of there way to be stupid, though, and hence the list.

this is very true but realize

    1. most GS and EB employees even managers are paid SHIT
    2. Most GS and EB employees are treated like cattle by their DMs and are condidered extremely easily replaced
    3. Most GS and EB employees will be fired for the most insane reasons (what you sold a game on ebay you bought 20 years ago, you cant do that your fired)

for the little pay they get and how shitty they get treated by upper management is it any wonder most GS and EB employees could really give 2 shits about

they get paid the same shitty amount weither the store does well or it sells 2 games a day
    Where I play

  10. Yeah, I hear you. Several of the other employees used to work for EB, and they tell me it can be corporate hell. No decision-making power whatsoever, and the managers are typically dicks with no experience or aptitude for the position, from what I hear.
