In a major event to publicize Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven, Activision is sponsoring a filmmaking contest, giving contestants the chance to win $20,000 in prize money. Between February 3rd and February 17th, 2003, student directors can submit their three-minute film (live action or animated) depicting the “ultimate ninja.” The 40 finalist films will be randomly chosen and be judged based on originality, creativity, and appeal. The Grand Prize winner will receive $15,000 and the five runner-up films will be posted on the contest website where consumers can watch them between March 3rd and March 14th, with the best-received one garnering the First Prize of $5,000. Oh, and the 40 finalist films are going to be judged by none other than Mr. Hard Boiled himself, John Woo, and his producing collaborator Terence Chang.
So all you would-be Kurosawas, Fellinis, and Tarkovskys would find it in your best interest to visit the official contest site (http://www.ninjafilmcontest.com) for rules, deadlines, and technical requirements. And remember to check out Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven on PlayStation 2 when it gets released on March 4th.
